A Bit Of This And That

A Bit Of This and That

Since early childhood he had been wandering the world
vast treks completed mainly on foot, some like in days of old
walking in the footsteps of Stanley and listening to tales told
of safari's into the depths of the dark continent there finding gold
crossing over the towering escarpment lighting fires against the
cold
huddling together sharing a self caught meal, settling down in fold
then onwards deeper finding an elephants grave yard, tusks already sold
their bones litter the valley, stark white bleached by the sun, some have mould
picked over by jackals and hyenas, who now the lions have departed grow bold
finding diamonds lying sparkling on the ground. Then onward to travel the world

A Christmas Snow------monorhyme

A Christmas Snow

The soft snow flakes fall gently coating
the land, which to white is turning.
Trees brushed white stand gleaming
as Christmas dawns with sunlight bursting.

A hush settles as people start stirring
emotions high, children in the snow delighting.
Soft and pristine white as the wind sets it flurrying
its touch a whisper as it brushes cheeks now settling.

Magical flakes of pure white glistening and sparkling,
while icicles translucent adorn trees decorating
their branches and trunks with colour reflecting.
The people filled with awe as Jesus they are welcoming.

A LOVE POEM

Each poem we read holds a treasure
Some deep feelings one can’t measure
A gem, good luck charm, an amulet
Words of love not to forget.

Each scar a budding flower
Each healed pain has its power
Soft spot one can’t feel or see
Can make a spirit sound and free.

Everything’s a state of mind
Happiness and joy we find
Sad, hurt world may shatter
But a bright heart with love can matter.

Love

When love is born the world is new,
A bright and glowing dawn.
With singing birds and budding blooms,
A paradise is drawn.

Exploring fingers, tongues and lips,
Bring pleasure with each quest.
Such sweet surprises, lovers bring,
Into their passioned nest.

With passing time the blossom fades,
Familiar scenes repeat.
A knowing, calm complacency,
Replaces passion's heat.

Happiness depends, it seems,
On finding out the way,
Despite all odds and obstacles,
The way to make love stay.

THE WORLD NEEDS LOVE

To illusions or dreams the heart is driven

Though the world is not just about love

And it's the key, connection to heaven

Spreading peace and lighting path thereof

And unto us, a choice of power's given

But a sad world weeps for the lack of love.

the first time that i ever

The first time that I ever laid my eyes on you
I could feel a fire burning within and a touch so warm and true
I thought that i had been in love before
But then i dont really think i had
My life was going backwards in time and making me feel so sad
But then you came along when i need you most
And you were always right by my side
And if i ever fel the need to escape from you girl
There wouldn’t be a place to hide
I would stay with you from dawn till dusk
I would never let you down
Your’e a real lady i love you alot and i need to have you round

Bonfire And MoonLight

May 9, 2010

Drawn deep into the heart of the woodland...
a haunting melody stirs the calm night.
Drums pound till I can’t resist their calling.
Silhouettes blend by bonfire and moonlight.

She is but one dancing in the circle...
hands moving as if swimming thru stars.
Many faces shine in the fire’s glow...
figures adorned with veils and flowers.

Glistening bodies, mesmerized, chanting...
praising the earth for her bounty and seed.
May Pole ribbons again weave their magic.
The fields are blessed, as are those they will feed.

One green ribbon I add to the weaving;
my silent watch, then my whispered prayer.
“Great Mother Earth, I’ve abused thy blessings.
Forgive me the times I wasn’t aware."

The drums have awakened my sleeping heart.
I feel you inside me...your voice I hear.
Goddess Mother...blessed be...our Mother;
by the light of the moon, all is made clear.

By the moon’s light...all is clear.”

I join the circle of celebration.
I am one with the drums, long thru the night.
I am but one dancing in the circle;
silhouettes blend by bonfire and moonlight.

All is made clear in the moon’s light...

I Once Spied A Famished Fairy!

I spied a famished fairy
Cold, skinny, starving
Her feathery wings had lost their sheen
And no shoes were upon her feet.

I brought her in to my sunny room
And sat her on a thimble for a stool.
I fed her bread & butter and fairy cakes
And brought back a smile to her ashen face.

Now she lives in my doll's house
And rides as her steed my pet mouse.
She dresses in gowns of velvet and satin
And is learning to speak French and Latin.

She dines at my table every night,
She savours every morsel - every bite.
Her once ashen face is rosy and cheery
My once famished friend is now a robust fairy!

LOVE LINES

If true love will find you someday
Let it just forever stay,
Keep it, don't drive love away
Good feelings inspire your way.

Take a journey together
Earth life is not forever
Make love stay in mind and heart
Light in us can't just depart.

Sylvan Landscape---Monorhyme

The sylvan landscape stretched for miles
reached across golden fields by stiles.
Leaves carpeted the ground like tiles
whilst branches lay in gathered woodpiles.

Ancient venerable trees lined the aisles
that wandered willy nilly like juveniles.
Along the rivers banks were basking reptiles
with mouths that upturned in happy smiles.

In the midst of the rushing water were isles
that rose up high like big projectiles.
And trees marched up the hills in files
giving shelter to the fox and his wiles.

The peace of the woodlands beguiles
within its tranquillity are no exiles.
