Deer Hunting

Blow hard cold gales across crumpled corn stalks
Dark skies spitting frozen granules of snow
Forcing my eyes into slits my sight blocks
Squinting for my prey down long stubbled rows

Take away, just numb my other senses
Perching up on an old tree stump to sit
Cover the run for it to jump fences
My rifle held firmly in my warm mitt

Hours and hours so alone with my thoughts
For soft hushs of breath inhale and depart
Like when success comes and goes casting lots
For when the moment comes with racing heart

Now my pulse quickens my blood flows fervid
Into sights my long awaited cervid

About this poem:
My sonnet is brief narritive of the experience of being a hunter....a cervid is a latin species name for deer....distinguished from Bovidae (Cows) by the male's having solid deciduous antlers and just about the only rhyme there is for fervid......

"Nature's Crown" Sonnet. (Orientalkoru challenge)

Against a Cumbrian sunset statuesque,
In slanted beams she beckons me to grace,
Breathtaking views, the ink of nature's desk,
My heart to pen a smile upon her face.
Majestic jagged hills oft' touch a cloud,
Stooping to the lakelands deepened soul,
Penrith wraps our Love in scented shroud,
Sweet English rose, my Irish heart you stole.
Blinded by the beauty that surrounds,
None more fair than her pale countenance,
I on her blowing tresses place a crown,
To celebrate our close poetic dance.

Fond moments that I dream can't come too soon,
When yonder we will kiss to nature's swoon.

Sweet Lady of the Lakes and Fells

Dear muse, I penned this verse with feather quill,
To gently praise your beauty of renown,
My words to float aloft your gaze until,
They softly kiss your eyes like thistledown.

One single thought of you is all I need,
Pure beams of gold to light my dulling day,
A gorgeous wildflower peers from tangled weed,
And paints a splash of colour to my grey.

My lonely shadow drapes this em'rald shore,
With somber heart I yearn your close embrace,
Between us how wild stormy waters roar,
Such tempest I would brave to touch your face.

Fond kisses blown on gentle winds your way,
Warm breezes seek wherein the fells you stray.

I Have Met Love

I have a love, my heart so wishes that she knew
What ploys and desires can I invoke to win her hand?
She treads so lightly so as not to disturb the morning dew
And her delicate heart never leaves a mark upon the sand

Oh love of mine please look to where this soul is residing
At the edge of the entire world it sees only thine reflection
Can you not see that my adoration is forever abiding
I would sacrifice all for a moment of your divine affection

For willows cannot weep more than mine own eyes
Yet as the rivers flow and carry my dreams to thee
All I can see is your vision across all the clouded skies
And your look of devotion would forever encompass me

Love, Oh love do not smite me with a dismissing hand
For no greater passion can be found across this land

Céad Míle Fáilte ! (Sonnet)

( A hundred thousand welcomes.)

A calling to our land of em'rald green,
I offer from the shores my open hand,
Sweet lady of fine verse I rate you Queen,
From forlorn eyes my tears doth stain the sand.

Oh! Come and bless our castles with your grace,
A love so strong as stoney fortress wall,
I long to see the wonder on your face,
As deeper in thine eyes my heart will fall.

And we could dance a céilí in the eve',
Our feet to float like shamrock on the pond,
I from your English kiss ne'er seek reprieve,
To fall in Gaelic love we would abscond.

At rainbows end a gift, as folklore told,
In Irish arms at last, my crock of gold !

About this poem:
An Irish invitation to an English lady.

I know from your posts dear that you
yearn to get away for a while....
So just for the craic come over to visit
your auld poet buddy and I'll help you
trace your Irish ancestry.
Don't mind the poem dear, that's just
the type of romantic Irish clown I can be.
You'd be very safe with Mick.

A Sonnet to friendship.

Friendship shall halt the power of time,
like boyhood days that seem not to fade
amidst those long lost spheres sublime,
when, to unforgiving time we joyous played,
rare such virtue true, slumbering sweet
with thoughts more rich than gold,
its voice unknown to thunders roll, entreat
the heart that ne'er grows old,
united, bonds mutual strength, thus found
a hallowed ground, much blessed, heroic deep,
harvest sweet unspoken words profound,
where love's silent voice its honest tokens keep,

friendship gilds the value of each weary day,
annulling, all life's stormy paths away.

About this poem:
To have a true Lady friend, is often subjected to ill founded thoughts, thus this sonnet is written to such a special Lady, the passage of years have not tainted one iota of the close bond we share.

^_^ I-LOVE-YOU-ALL ^_^

=-+=+-=+=+-=+-=+=+-=+-=+=

I wish I could write a sonnet tonight.
I wish I could make it sweet for you.
I wish I could make it rhyme and right.
I wish I could though I don’t know how to.
=+-=+-=+=+-=+-=+=
I know I can never write a sonnet.
I know a sonnet is so hard for me.
I know that I am not a good poet.
I know I’m only ‘the sun and the sea’
=+=+-=+-=+=
So, how could I let you know that I care?
How could I show you what I feel inside?
I'd love to take away all your nightmare.
I’d love to shed every tear when you cried.
=+-=+-=+=+-=+-=+=
I wish the angels could give me more time,
So that, I’d say “I LOVE YOU ALL” in rhyme.

LIVING ALONE...

Living alone is not easy as I think
It was my dream to do so
But days going faster and faster
Its becomes hard to me as well as you
I couldn’t get any help from others and
They says I am a selfish and cruel
But really it’s not right
Bcaz, I know who I am.
But things are different
I need some one to take my hand
And to say "I am with you"
My dreams are in the half way
Waiting for a hand to take care
Others are strangers to me
And they are not ready to know me very well
More of them are very busy in their life
To collect something special
Those never help them in their loneliness
And I am here alone
It’s not good as I was before
And it’s not easy to live alone in this world.

Moonbeams. (Sonnet) Paloma Challenge.

If we were stars in cosmogyral space,
Lost apart in nacreous endless blue,
To seek, I would like gossamer embrace,
Upon a moonbeam, destination....you.

In reminiscence of your twinkling light,
I'd fall for your aeolian warm rays,
Our fusion to ignite the lonesome night,
As showers of stardust calm our fiery blaze.

Together we could disappear through time,
To float in ataraxial deep love,
Like poets entwined in pure celestial rhyme,
In Heavens reverence 'mid stars above.

Drifting through soft moonlight psiturism,
Forever lost in dazzling starry prism.

My Celestial Lover

Dreamy goddess of distance and romance
Far beyond my lonely world do you reign
In fields of wild flowers watch floating dance
Your flowing headress made of daisy chain

Long days working in fields of dusty haze
A farmer's life tilling the good brown earth
At first evening star I rest and will gaze
Fruits of my labor bring to you such mirth

Every sunrise I greet with great pleasure
Your graceful perfections smile down on me
Thankful each season's for fullest measure
Smile back into your soft radiant eyes

Great Ceres make multiple my hay bales
Run wild the foxes with flamming tails
