Flew out of Madison, Wisconsin on July 25
We flew to Denver, Colorado and then onto Arcata, California
Then the pilot came over the intercom and said it was too foggy
We had to fly to another airport nearby that was about 100 miles inland
We refueled there and tried again for Arcata and then flew to San Francisco
We got put up for free in a motel and given 30 dollars in free food vouchers
Then it was on the shuttle bus back to the airport to try again for Arcata
I got on the wrong plane and was taken off of it
Luckily the person who took me off put me on the right plane
This time we made it to Arcata and I got my first rental car
Then as I was beat from lack of sleep, sore legs from being on a plane five hours
The night before, and the frustration of it all, all I wanted was to lay on a bed
So, from 3 pm till I went to sleep I just watched TV
So the next day, Saturday I went out and looked at trees going north on 101
This highway will take you all along the Redwoods parks
I went to two trees you can drive thru the next day
Then I went to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on Monday
I barely made it back over as the directions in that city were awful coming back
I spent the next two days swimming in the ocean, going to Oregon
And going to a Bigfoot museum in Willow Creek, California
I flew back on Thursday, August 1 with no problems
Total cost of the trip was around 3,500 dollars

About this poem:
I have been wanting to go to California all my life. Most of my trips as a child were to Arkansas where I went to the Gateway Arch in St. Louis only once. Then it was fishing in Hayward or Gordon, Wisconsin.

your giant ships
sailed out the tide
to block my village
far and wide
to plunder food
from famine soil
to thieve our hope
with our own toil
forced to leave
our barren lands
we dug the streets
with broken hands
we built your roads
we built your towns
our songs flowed through
the undergrounds
the ghost of drink
lent on our minds
to block the pain
the lost man finds
we dreamt of fields
from bench and park
we sung our tunes
against the dark
though better years
have come to pass
I married proud
an english lass
and though her smile
is like a rose
I know the earth
from which it grows
when the mason's scratch
fades to stone
I'll live their dreams
in flesh and bone
every wave
hits every quay
I am them
and they are me

Come with me,
if you're feeling it right
Come with me,
if it excites you a lot
Come with me,
if you knew it's the only way
Come with me,
If it's not easy to forget
Come with me,
If it breaks your heart not to feel me
Come with me,
If you see me in your dreams
Come with me,
If I make you smile for no reason
Come with me,
If your time stops with me
Come with me,
If you won't break my heart
Come with me,
If you're ready to be loved
Come with me,
If you wanna be the apple of my eyes
Come with me,
If you want me to tease you
Come with me,
If you wanna fill that lips with mine
Come with me,
If you wanna drink my coffee
Come with me,
If you wanna taste this food of forever
Come with me,
If you wanna stop this tears away
Come with me,
If you'll kept me in your arms forever
Come with me,
If you wanna know more

As I often watch videos of animals rescued and finding love ..
after so much hardship and abuse , sometimes too late ,
and sadly had to cross the rainbow above ...
I’m left with the firm conviction that in them you unfailingly
find God’s beauty and true essence ...
And in their eyes, whether suffering
or finding happiness in their existence ...
You always see the truth in their gaze ,
and never have to doubt the meaning of their ways ...
I often wonder ... where’s the unconditional love and undying
committment in us humans ,
that these animals are all able to show ...
Why with all our intellect and mental faculties
all too many seem to not know ...
All the two-faced pretending ,
the lies people end up saying ...
Why cant we just own up for who we really are ...
say what we really feel ...
but most of all, instead of our worse,
the best of ourselves we share and reveal ...
So I laud the people who can see and feel all these too,
have opened their hearts and their lives
for God’s furry, feathered, bare skinned and what have you ...
In number we may not be as much as is needed for all ,
but we do try what we can
so those in need may not fall ...

my wrists shackled to her feet
Laughing at my will breaking
a wretch in black lipstick has me
without bones I'm crawling
she stakes her nails in me
scratching my back
blood drains free
venom seeps in and I'm shaking
I sit at my alter
she is my goddess
for her not faulter
she'll keep me in bondage
I am the stain on her soul
she's the scars on mine
without her I'm cold
without me she's fine

You and I search and hope for the same ...
though the love of our life
may still yet to have a name ...
The one we'd want to love
with all our heart and soul ...
We hope to God up above
so we may find our goal ...
To love wholly and truly ,
as to be loved back entirely ...
May we find our hearts' longing and desire,
whether or not it be you & I ....

So now that I’m free, I am my master, owner, friend,
I'll enter upon road of joy, adventures and surprise,
I'll say to life: "You've won, I'm loser, I am what I am,
In search for truth all that I saw proved nothing but mirage."
We sink and swim, but, what is more, we live with zest,
Of this I know, oh road, should I just chose and dared,
And always kept my own, and never craved for less,
The long and tiring road would then seem short to fare.
I'll carry on this crooked road not much, but former load,
The burden of all men and women that I’ve known,
And charged with load like this I still am free to go,
"I'm filled with them, and I will fill them in return."
Oh road that takes me far from home, you - open road,
I'm full of joy and promises you give, you're what I chose.

light
the key
to what is
labelled as truth
illuminating
darkness of ignorance
revealing clearly what is
amidst all doubt and confusion
the magnificent power of light

Children from different walks of life
Mix of laughter, play, without strife
Helping each other, so good to see
Different cultures, innocence a key
From countries, around the world they came
Seeking a new life, with needs the same
A tiny girl, asked if I came here too
South African, her pretty name a clue
Explained I came from London, I smiled
Like them had travelled, thousands of miles
Mixed with Kiwi kids, sitting so still
Listened to stories, having their fill
Older ones helping, was good to see
Treasure hunt or craft, enjoyment key
I learnt so much from them that week
Children teaching adults, ages and cultures meet.....

[]As I lay in my bed
Music fills in my head
Memories, of you,
Leaves me feeling blue,
As I toss and turn
I, yearn for you
when am I, going to learn
I, need to wait my turn
Today, I saw pictures
Of you and me,
On ,our wedding day
The love, in our eyes
Could, not be disguised
So much love
Can never die
Now, you're with God, above
I hear you singing,
I see your tears,
No, other love compares
to the love, we share
Our thirty-fourth anniversary
Is a short time away
In my head, we dance and sway
Our, son is a mirror image
I see, you in, his eyes
I see ,you in, his smiles
I hear , you, in his laughter
I thank, God for the little piece
Of you, he's given to me
I'm, gonna close my eyes,
go to sleep
Dream, of me, and you,
and the memories
I have to keep.
