Morning Merri! wave

It hard to know for sure because it all boils down to electoral votes which is a screwy deal all around. To be sure, Romney holds the advantage right now but it's very close.

Here's something interesting about our elections. The winning candidate has to have 270 electoral votes to win the presidency. Current data show Obama has 201 electoral votes and Romney has 206.

Should there be a tie, or should it be close enough that neither reached 270. The House gets to pick the winner, while the Senate gets to pick the vice president.

So if that were to happen in this election - It would probably be...

Romney/Biden

Your whole election, campaigning, debating etc is a right puzzle... Sounds way tooo hard to follow... especially as we have a couple of ding dongs flogging insults instead of policies at the moment..

so I took the easy way out, and found that interactive map.. and clearly, the red dominates the map...

I kept looking at the map, then looking away, thinking it was because red is a pretty powerful standout color, but nup, seems pretty unequal there...

So then I went on to read what each candidate represents... so Obama is the wannabe robin hood sorta, and Romney is the gun toting cowboy.. I have not a clue who is who, and I dont pretend to know, except that...

Whoever wins, and what the policies are, it affects us here in Australia big time... If Romney wins, and wants to continue war... we have to follow ... and if Obama wins, and withdraws spending in the military, then we can safely bring our troops home from Afghanistan next year... so Australian media watches and reports on your campaign.

But for the last four years, we have heard naught but how high unemployment is over there in yours, and how people are not treated with free medical... etc... so, do you think it would be a good thing if Obama actually got his plans in action, or is his words hollow and promises but does not deliver..???

If you took the vote today.....and by popular vote alone....yes, it would be Romney. He has between a 3% and 7% lead right now in popular vote. DEM are hanging their hats on stopping him in Oiho...))...a Obama win in the Buckeye state reduces his ways to get to 270 in the electoral college big time.

It is neck and neck in Ohio presently. Ohio is a toss up.

By the way....Michigan and Wisconsin are both back to being toss up states. New Hampshire...yes New Hampshire is leaning Romney. I have been trying to find out if Obama spelled the state's name....Old Hammer some time. Pennsylvania is just leaning Obama now.

Obama's geographic voting blocks of New England....and the West Coast have been hammered and broken some. Nevada is a toss up. Oregon and Washington are leaning Obama, were they use to be solid Obama. California is still a solid Obama.

The South and Midwest is mostly Romney. Florida is Romney with a 5 point lead. Sadly we still let New York and California vote. If for some reason in the future....we make a law that if you have a bankrupt State....and you lose electoral college votes and representation accordingly.....is the day these two states stop dominating our national elections.

Ain't that a heck of a idea!

Here is one to scratch your head over.....confused

A few weeks ago, they made a arrest on the border of a pregnant woman trying to enter the US. She wanted to have baby in the US so the child would be a American citizen. Nothing new here. It happens all the time.

But she was trying to enter the country on a bad visa. Under a false name. If in reality she is the daughter of one the worst drug lord in Mexico....El Chapo.....one very nasty fellow.

Then few other questions come to mind.....did she get the US visa form from part of the Fast and Furious gun deal? Did the Obama administration have her set up for a US medical facilities for the Child's birth? Did the Obama administration aid this woman because of a relationship with el Chapo from the 'Fast and Furious' gun trades?

Only answer if Holder will step forward with the Fast and Furious documents.......

TTom50: Romney is pro gun and has the endorsement of the NRA. But that is not why he has the majority presently. This is anti Obama vote this year. A anti ACA vote. People are unhappy over what happened in 2008 with the economy crumple. Obama is still part of that. His TARP II did not do much to change the economics of the country. He laid the ACA (obamacare)on the country, on top of that. That does not poll well either. jmo

Hang a mo... Didn't Obama inherit all that... I mean, he did not cause it... did he.. ?
The reason I say this, is, a couple of my v good friends went over yours to tour for 6 months prior to that last election, and they were in constant contact, and they were telling me prices of food and houses over there... and how very cheap it all was because the country was bust . That was the six month prior to Obama having his win.
Rightiho, now I am confused...confused

If a country is right down and almost dishearted, four years... is that enough time to bring it up what with the $$$ spent on the military??

Seems not enough time.. but then, I guess every new incoming president has burdens to bear... How anyone would want that headache is well beyond me...

It's a complicated mess, that's for sure! Just remember that the news stories you read are BADLY skewed by a media that favors Obama. Romney is absolutely no more inclined to go to war than Obama is - and actually believes in "peace through strength."

But foreign affairs is such a difficult issue since things change which are out of everyone's control. Syria is a good example...Libya. Their actions sometimes determine what the next step should be so it's hard to gauge how any candidate will react without knowing what's going to happen yet.

But overall - Romney is a peace through strength kind of guy.

Looking at Romney's voting records...... his policy is like bush - only Romney who is in favor of government leaving big business alone would be in favor of businesses that manufacture guns, other stuff. Cause that would get americans working....

Romney RIGHTLY wants to simplify the horrendous piles of legislation that are currently suffocating all of our business. This does NOT mean he wants to do away with all of them. Geesh! Where do you get your talking points?

When you are finished with a bottle of Windex, do you have to treat it as hazardous waste and sort it from the rest of your trash?

Home Depot does...

There are unbeleivable silly rules and requirements that companies have to follow these days. Nobody is suggesting we remove the important ones - just the bull crap that ties everone up in knots.

and that is a sad thing because in competing in math and science with the world we are almost number 17 in the world.....

It took 43 Presidents to accumulate the debt that Obama inherited. That is from George Washington period time to GWB's 8 years.....in 8 years GWB double national debt. Obama has matched GWB debt in 4 years.

30% of every dollar Obama spends is borrowed from China. If Obama wins and we get the same policies as the first four years....the countries debt will be 20t. 9t to 10t of that 20t Obama debt.

We are at point of being economically unsustainable. Like Greece. Romney main economic plan is to cut the back the spending of the government. It has grown by 40% under Obama.

It was 2008 candidate Obama that said GWB's debt was 'unpatriotic' that it would hurt our children. He promised to cut the debt by 50%.
That promise brought a lot of IND and Mid Road REP to vote for him in 2008. But a major campaign promise unfulfilled is normally a death sentence for a second term in American politics.

Obama has told us he "cannot change Washington".

So he has dropped the facade of being the Washington reformer of 2008. To being big spender of 2012.

Had he stayed to his 2008 campaign promises....with the binLaden raid success....he would likely be re-elected. But American trust politicians about as much as they do rattle snakes (a coastal Taipan relative to you). Fun to look at if safely caged. But they don't give them second bite chance often if they get out. Obama had his one bite of the American apple.

Ut oh! Looks like new evidence has surfaced on Libya-gate indication that team Obama really did leave our boys in Libya to die.

It's just been reported that the CIA at the annex (who lived) requested help 3 times and were told to stand down. Finally, some (including the Seals that died) ignored the order and went to the embassy – rescuing many.

I must be spaced out from being on Percocet for so long. I think I read that Leon Panetta said "the United States government not only didn't have adequate intelligence information" (Benghazi) but they also "didn't have the chance to know what was really occurring". confused Did I really read that correctly? It sounds to me like the same excuse we heard on Sept. 11th that the fire departments couldn't communicate with each other because of poor radio transmission.

"WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. military did not quickly intervene during the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya last month because military leaders did not have adequate intelligence information and felt they should not put American forces at risk, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Thursday.

In his most extensive comments to date on the unfolding controversy surrounding the attack in Benghazi, Panetta said U.S. forces were on heightened alert because of the anniversary of 9/11 and prepared to respond. But, he said, the attack happened over a few hours and was over before the U.S. had the chance to know what was really occurring."

Yep. That's what they said. But now we know that wasn't true. Aside from the live video feed they were watching in real time, we now also know that the CIA living in the compound next to the Ambassador requested THREE times to go in and help. Not only was military assistance denied, but these soldiers were told specifically to "STAND DOWN."

Which basically means they was lyin to us all along. For weeks they lied while the Ambassador died...
