Paulababy20: Obviously im not an Obama fan..i dont care for socialism, high taxes, weak military and changing the fact that we are at war with terrorist killers. I just hope in 2010 and 2012 we put people back in Washington DC that know what the hell they are doing..and not on-the-job training!!!

What you are referring to more accurately would be called in the States as "hush money."
We've paid out welfare, AFDC, and a host of other benefits to keep those people who receive it from looting. Of course, the people that are paying for such nonsense are themselves being looted, namely the taxpayers.
Since the recipients of such payments can receive them for years, they have no incentive to work or attempt to get work.
Obams's brand of entitlements certainly is socialism. It cannot be called capitalism because it's funded by the government, not the private sector; there is no exchange of goods (money is being paid out with no revenues to match it).
European welfare statism has put a brake on their economies' growth for decades, since most the fuel for such outlays has been in the form of staggering tax burdens on individuals and businesses. High labor costs also have translated into higher unemployment rates. Worker productivity is also somewhat lower than in the U.S.
Our competitive advantage is evaporating, however, and the staggering debt can only pull down our standard of living. In that respect, we are heading toward socialism, since its aim is to reduce every individual to the lowest common denominator.
