Luke, yes I understand the Irish can be quite volatile, it must be something in the rain, carried on the wind, those are things they get plenty of there's vid on the news today of one of there weather forecasters being blown out of shot whilst doing a live broadcast in fairness it is only just summer there a few more days & it'll be autumn
Molly, I'm truly overwhelmed by your consideration, an all expenses paid trip to the hospital, where I'll meet all those lovely Spanish nurses, assuming the NHS hasn't nicked them all of course, it'll be like a holiday getting away from the daily grind of sitting under a shade by the pool drinking ice cold beer
Molly, one knife is hardly a set ............ok it is for us sad singles but if I just had the one knife I might be tempted to use for something other than steak
I'd vote for most recent activity, that would save having to keep switching between latest blogs & last commented, as you rightly say the blog with all the action could well be so far down the list most wouldn't even know it was still active.
Luke, to be honest I can't really see the difference between IM & mailbox, it's not like the old days where mail could take days but yes I'd be more likely to use that, the chatroom was just scary, and not just because Molly was there
Personally I think the changes you've made have been extremely effective, it's far more user friendly & the technical issues with high memory usage resolved
Aaah so now the Russians are involved? I fail to see where Russia or Syria fit into this news story.
What's the point of posting a fake news vid, why would I bother to watch that when I've already seen the vid of the fire chief in charge of the operation state the number of missing is 58, or maybe you think the Russians have got at the fire chief?
Your comments about the British being sheep, I'll let Redex talk to about that.
Tokyo / Red, even the number of missing is wrong, the number is 58 not at least 70 as quoted in this blog, the number may go up or down depending on who was in the building at the time & whether any survivors have yet to come forward.
Ken,my suggestion to you is if you want to run a fire safety campaign why not start with asking why an American firm makes/supplies incendiary cladding, if it's banned in the US on buildings over 40ft high is it therefore ok for people who live in low rise apartment blocks to burn?
C, this whole climate change thing has for me become 99% politics, 1% science, the politicians sacked all the scientists that didn't agree with there theory, it was the same back in the Saddam weapons of mass destruction days, anyone who disagreed he had them was sacked, you don't have to go back far in history to see the world hotter than it is now, but far enough to have nothing to do with man made CO2 etc, go even further back & it was way hotter, the sooner the politicians realise compared to the sun us humans are mere weeds at controlling the weather, and as usual when the EU is involved you have to look at political agenda, I'm not at all surprised Trump pulled out of the deal.
Molly, forget all this loyalist stuff, as I gather from what the DUP have said they want trade to continue as is, that means no hard border, of course politics in that part of the world tend to be extreme & some old die-hard could rock the boat but political goals have a habit of being kicked into touch once jobs & income are put at risk, as NI in general voted to stay in thus keeping the 4 freedoms, it would seem sensible to make the border UK mainland rather than between North & South But as none of the parties involved want to the border back it'll be a foolish side that puts it back imo, the only sticking point I can see is Scotland, any special arrangement for Ireland is bound to leapt on by the Fish
Biff, when I first changed advice on the net & from users was to try Linux Mint, apparently quite similar in look to Windows 10, though as I've never used 10 I can't say if that's true. Now with the faster new machine I'm on Ubuntu, on which Linux Mint is based, I prefer it as it seems to do things more the way I like but that's just a matter of choice, the same arguments for using them holds true with either.
Molly, I dare say the UK will still let you fly over it to get to your beloved EU, though that is one of many things to be sorted in the Brexit talks if not flying round it will only add about 3 hours to the trip to Brussels
Ooby, a further thought, with most of the alternatives you can install alongside XP or any windows, you can then choose when you turn on which you want to use, chances are once you've got used to the new system you'll use XP less & less. It doesn't take a huge amount of spaceon the drive to do that either, you can even run it from a DVD or USB pen drive.
CC, password protection seems to be the name of game these days, it's one of the only things I find irritating on the alternative system, even though I'm logged on as administrator if I make any system changes I still have to put in the password to do it. My new machine is also encrypted, so the FBI can't catch up on me but that means I have to enter another password before I can even get to normal password stage
RE: I can't sleep .
Easy read some of my old blogs, they'll have you in no time
