You're right, Angel. Some people wonder why a loving God would allow so much suffering, but I feel differently. I feel that without having God to go home to in the end, those who suffered would have suffered for no reason.
I suppose you are Misstaken. I'm a mother and I couldn't imagine allowing a daughter of mine to marry against her will. It would kill me. I don't have any daughters but I know it would kill me.
The race-baiting, the death threats, the influence of the obama administration, including the DOJ! It's all so wrong. Since when does a sitting president take the deliberate position of attempting to influence the outcome of a court case? That's an outrageous breach of the powers of government. It sickens me that Americans, MY people, have sunk so low to take it upon themselves to become judge jury and executioner because they dislike the verdict from what was even an unfair trial where the evidence allowed/ not allowed so favored the prosecution in a case that legally had no standing to begin with.
Okay, sure, that's my opinion...but the facts are what they are and he was rightfully acquitted.
But that isn't the reason I posted this. Any self-serving individual of a lesser character would keep a really low profile for a long time. Not risk exposure. Not go out saving people.
I can't think about this right now on account of another blogger who writes that the mere act of having a thought (me being female and all) would give me a headache.
I was having the same thoughts (as those in the blog you posted) shortly before you posted this. When you knowingly ignore the truth because you want the feelings, you are then responsible for your resulting misery. No amount of wishful thinking makes the wrong person right.
If you win, the IRS will become your new best friend. If you lose, you'll need to borrow the funds to file bankruptcy. It's truly a lose-lose situation!
While I agree with Serendipity, I would also suppose that your friend may be trying to be realistic in her expectations in a misguided way. Perhaps she has a fear of being abandoned after marriage and kids to raising them as a single mother and feels that giving her husband the freedom to be unfaithful without repercussion is the only way she can secure him and the financial security of having a father for her children. It happens often and in many societies, there is little recourse for the woman who is left alone with children to raise.
In any case, the only way to know her motives is to ask her.
Viking, I know you mean well and I'm not at all criticizing, but chronic depression is a hereditary thing, not situational. It doesn't just go away. The question is, what is causing it and what can make it better? For instance, is it a nutritional deficiency? Is it unresolved pain from the past? The key to making it better is to find out what is causing it and treating the problem.
Ed, I too love the song as well as just about anything Ricky Martin. When my middle son was in high school his band was chosen as one to perform in the Rose Bowl Parade. Theirs was the first to include a steel drum section (pushed on wheeled platforms by football players). They performed another of Martin's songs. One of the carts lost a wheel en route causing the assistant band director to make a mad dash through a section of the marching band. Networks covering the parade kept making the remark that the weather (it was frigid!) was like a "heat wave" for our southwestern PA kids. Actually, it was colder in Pasadena that day than it was in Pittsburgh. Ah, what memories!
Great blog, Cat. Really enjoyed the video; very amusing! Also, loved Del's vidio of the Utu - Haka. You know, here in the US rugby isn't the thing so I'd never heard of a haka. I binged (I'm not a google kinda girl) haka's and watched a few more, including an original Maori haka, one performed for the Queen of England, etc. Found one called Scottish haka:
All men (and women) are fallible and will let you down at one time or another. The important thing is not how we are treated, but how we respond. We can never go wrong by responding in love. God bless you, Catfoot.
11-year-old girl: Marry me off? I'll kill myself!
