GG. -- it's good to see that you did look into most religions. Most people don't bother. It shows that you were interested in life and the possible systems that brought us onto this planet. Have you ever looked into ancient astronaut theories? I find that revealed so much about the possible influences on the lives of people hundreds or thousands of years ago. It makes you think about the contents of religious books and how some of the stories could be more credible if you apply the theories of people who are not main stream scientists, and who because they can't explain certain historical occurrences, choose to ignore them.
I don't understand these peace talks. Why should Ukraine discuss anything. They have been attacked for no reason. We have not shown guts in leadership and with Crimea, we did nothing also. I wish I was leader of a western power. I would now get aircraft to be piloted by Ukraine pilots and fly them from Poland, who are happy to do this. The Russian guns and missile launchers would be taken out. I would warn China not to get involved or sanctions would be applied to them.
GG---Thanks for response. No I'm not a Mormon, but I have spent some time with them out of curiousity and after being invited by their sisters to see what they believe. I have also spent time with JW's and know what they believe. JW's don't believe in hell, but those who don't accept god, just remain dead and are not resurrected. Mormons believe in a complicated system of different categories of after life depending on how you behaved in your current life. So you see it gets quite difficult for people to know whether they are on the right course in life, and there are numerous other religions, Hindu, seikh, Budda, to consider.
How do you know which is the right god? Or the right religion? Any intelligent God must realise that most people are reasonably intelligent by now just as god is, and he surely would realise that the choice put before people is very difficult. Who would he choose if he was in our position? When Joseph Smith was unsure of which beliefs were correct, God told him, none of them. The Mormon religion then started and known as church of latter Day saints. Are they right?
Linds---Thats fine and I don't criticise you as long as you are happy, but you should never close your mind to possibilities of any new information that is discovered regarding the past which may even make your beliefs stronger. That's why we have the ability to think and always question life. I have an open mind and that is why I question everything, and how we came about as humans fascinates me. I don't just accept what others say or think but try to form my own opinion out of the facts and knowledge that others have researched. Joseph Smith was just an ordinary person who for some reason apparently had his prayer to God answered in a major way and led to the formation of the Mormon church in American which has 16 million followers worldwide. Of course other branches of the Christian church and Jehovah's witnesses would argue against the Mormon story.
The accounts by 4 characters in the Bible, Mathew, mark, Luke and John, never saw Jesus or his work. They rely on handed down stories by other individuals. Yet scrolls found in caves around Iraq, written by two so called disciples called Philip and Thomas, who state they followed Jesus and witnessed some of his behaviour. These accounts were never put in Bible, because church leaders didn't like what they said. These scrolls were found with other documents and called the gnostic gospels.
Most believers feel good and religion acts as a drug which makes people find hard to think clearly or wish anyone to challenge their beliefs. If you feel good through worship and prayers, why would you wish to escape that feeling and face reality and the truth about life.
But was there ever, nothing? Science definition states, matter can neither be created nor destroyed. We know that hydrogen and helium were first gases and a flash of light was converted to matter by the god particle, now called Higgs bosun, after the man whose theory suggested this in 1968. That's as much as I know. But what created the light and what created the thing that created the light, and goes on and on.....
How do you know it to be true? The accounts in the Bible are by people who heard stories told by someone else, or misrepresented what they saw because they were unable to recognise advanced technology when confronted with it. The Bible was put together by church leaders who wanted to create a story that they approved of, and left out anything that wouldn't fit in with what they wished to portray. Scrolls found in recent times give a different picture of Jesus and his relationship with Mary Magdalen, but not included in Bible. The book of Enoch gave different version of genesis, but left out. If God appeared, I would expect some ID before believing who it was, and this is what Abraham should have done before agreeing to slay his son to test his belief. The help by Poland, Hungary, Slovenia has galvanised the rest of Europe to help the refugees. Those that don't help show their lack of compassion and understanding for people in desperate situations. How many Russians are sending clothes and essentials to their neighbours?

Nuclear power plant subject of attack by Russia. This plant is many times larger than Chernobyl. If damaged, radiation leak would affect whole of Europe. So this makes it even more essential to issue ultimatum to Putin.
Give way to dictators then. Perhaps people who believe that should go and live under that type of government. Try Syria or Burma or Hong Kong or China or North Korea or Russia and try blogging there. I don't think you would survive long, or maybe you would with your anti freedom views and refusal to stand up to tyranny, or even a defenceless person in the street under attack.
When President Kennedy gave Kruschev an ultimatum to remove missiles from Cuba, was he wrong? The threat if nuclear war existed for a time, but the demand was successful. If Putin is allowed to get his way he will continue to attempt to force his will on other countries. And if he is successful, China will realise that the world is weak and Taiwan will be on the agenda.
If you observed a woman and child being attacked across a street, would you ignore the situation and think, well it's not my problem, leave it to her. If I get involved, I might get hurt. So she and child suffer. Or would you try to intervene and rescue them from the situation?
Exactly, once you have studied with different religious people you are then in a position to accept that there is no one in outer space that listens to you. History of the world proves that.
There must be some truth in the Bible or there would be no Pope and the Vatican city. He is the intermediary between God and the people. I understand? He has lots of documents filed away on miles of shelving, which no one else is allowed to see. He must be wise to keep such secretive material.
