LJ.....You said the law of the land is mandatory. If the law is the death penalty eg Texas, then you would be supporting the killing of a strapped down individual. Make up your mind please.
LJ..... Yes I know it's difficult topic but one that needs attention. Do any of the punishments act as a deterrent? Maybe if severe enough it may cause someone to think twice before committing a serious act. But would it? Are they so mentally deranged that it makes no difference. Does that person need psychological treatment to change their behaviour in addition to being locked away? Or just lock them up for good. Do they deserve the death penalty and should that even be considered in these times?

Celtic....... My first love and infatuation was with an Irish girl. I think it was County Down where she came from. I was in civil service at the time. She was in same department. Once you have gun freedom, then it leads to most people obtaining them so as to offer protection. I suppose I would do the same. Trouble is it becomes like the wild west. To suddenly change things now would be difficult. Too many weapons in circulation. The size of a country is important. A weapon maybe valuable against animals when outside a city.
There have been many shootings in USA by individuals of all ages, who appear to suddenly go on the rampage in shopping centres and take lives. Buffalo is latest, 10 people dead. I do believe that there is too much freedom to carry arms and should be tighter control. Perhaps individuals should have to go on an assessment course before permission to purchase.
