When there is someone I like and appreciate, I have endless patience with them. I never reject their questions and realise what they may wish to achieve and that there is good reason for any knowledge they wish to gain. We are all different and we need to realise we may have different ways to approach a subject. Sometimes it opens our eyes as to our own personality that we didn't recognise before encountering a situation and maybe good fortune comes as a result.

Decent L........How do you describe friendship and isn't it just a relationship solely to gain something for oneself, and not really to benefit the other person?
One thing of course to consider is that many people seek friendship through their religion and by communicating with their chosen deity. All the trials of life and the hopes an individual has are channelled to this extra terrestrial entity. No need for human consultation.
The truth is that hardly any of the qualities I have listed would be possessed by an individual. People have a survival instinct similar to the animal world. Safety in numbers. Without other people around, many individuals would find life too much of a challenge. Who could they offload any burden to. How could they cope on their own. Who could they seek advice from. How could they cope with others who had a predatory nature. When a lion makes a kill, other creatures circle to join in if they can, like hyenas do, followed by vultures. It's a bit like this site. There are predators here and others who like to join in when they can. But the good that comes out of it is that it identifies the people who would make the worst friends.
I think many people say they are friends, but in practice they are self interested and when their lifestyle is threatened, they soon find ways to disappear. Sad but in reality that's what can happen.
