New place, new people, new beginnings

Grand: No, it’s not a date. We’re friends hanging out

Relaxing day today!

Blue: No, my life is not busy at all. I often end up getting super bored because I have nothing to do.

I went to look at a room today!

Jac: Yes, but not by much. Converted to UK money, I am saving 46p a day. Nothing major, but it is a lot when you calculate the number of working days in 2022 (253), the total saving for me will then add up to about £58.19. I can get food for a week for that amount.

Swamie: I am taking it because it's closer to my school I am starting on in about 4 months time. Of course, it's nice to be closer to K than I am now, because then I can visit her more frequently, but it's not the primary reason why I am taking the room. I am also taking it because I feel like the guy renting out the room is more down-to-earth than my current housemate. The one where I am currently at, goes somewhat ballistic if I have forgotten to clean up a small drop on the kitchen counter, for example. Or, if he feels like I am doing things in a certain way that he doesn't appreciate, I get a mile long message, where he lays out why he's upset with me, and somehow also weaves prices of things into the message. Case in point: I once accidentally deleted a game from his Playstation, and he treated that as if I had dropped acid in the console. He loves expensive stuff, which I don't. I mean, it's nice to have a tv that's somewhat clever, and a console that can play games, but I don't really bother with getting the newest of the new stuff. That's why I feel that the new place I am renting is going to be a LOT better, both for my mental health but also my financial situation. The rent is with everything included. Internet, heat, water, power, washing and so on, whereas here, my current housemate can pump up the rent, if the power consumption has been a bit higher than the previous month. That's not gonna happen where I move to now

I went to look at a room today!

Jim: It's about 20 minutes away. Where I live now, I have a 50 minute commute, so it's definitely closer to the school. Based on that, it might be wise to take the room, and save 30 minutes each way

I went to look at a room today!

The room is mine, if I want it. I have decided to sleep on it, and I will make a decision tomorrow. I am 80% sure that I'm gonna go for it, but I need to listen to my head and gut. If I change my mind, I have until Tuesday to let him know if I am moving in or not

Nine days away from the interview that'll shape my future!

A Merc W124 diesel is not possible to get here for less than 80.000 kroner, so unless I get insanely lucky and win the lottery, a W124 is out of my price range, sadly. I do like the look of that model.

I would like to haul whatever I can haul. Lumber, tankers or regular freight, it doesn't matter. As long as I get to haul stuff :)

Nine days away from the interview that'll shape my future!

I have, but it was ages ago when I had the great idea of becoming a car mechanic. But then I dropped out, and pursued other stuff. No, it's the W210, but the W124 is not that more expensive, actually. I'll have a look around to see what I can find

Nine days away from the interview that'll shape my future!

Hello Grandsiozzie wave

I am getting four driving licenses: Forklift truck, car, truck and trailer. Furthermore, I am also getting all the certificates that I need in order to be a trucker. Absolutely fantastic!

I have been looking at old Toyota's, VW's and Mercs, as well as Audis and old Fords. I would prefer an automatic gearbox, and the cheapest I can find is 20 year old 2 liter Golf IV stationcar, with leather seats and everything. I am not keen on leather seats, but the automatic gearbox is making me go "awh yes!". But if I wanted to get a manual, I could get a 1.5 liter Suzuki Swift. The cheapest Mercedes I can find is an E300, which can be mine for 25.000 kroner. Cars here in Denmark are kind of expensive, but a Merc for 25.000 kroner is a steal!

RE: Songs I don't get tired of hearing...

La_Femme: When I moved to Scotland back in 2014, I was watching Edinburgh Hogmanay, which was Scotland's New Years Eve celebration. Twin Atlantic was the band playing, and after hearing three songs by them, I found out they were on tour, and they would hit Glasgow in May 2015. So, I bought a ticket, based on three songs. The show was excellent, and I am really glad I bought a ticket based on three songs :)

Nine days away from the interview that'll shape my future!

This is just one of those "Hi, we would just like to see who you are and tell you a bit about the education" interviews. The last time I had that same interview, it was over in about 10 minutes, and it was literally just them going "So here's how the education is going to go" :), The last time, they asked me why I wanted to be a trucker, so I am thinking it'll be the exact same thing again. Now that I think about it, it's not really an interview, but more a short conversation about the education

RE: Songs I don't get tired of hearing...

Another Scottish band worth mentioning: Twin Atlantic. An alternative rock band from Glasgow. The lead singer is named Sam McTrusty. A great live band as well

RE: Songs I don't get tired of hearing...

Another Scottish band that's great: The Proclaimers. This one in particular, is what the young people call a "banger"

Trucking abroad? Could be fun!

Loh: I have watched a few episodes of Ice Road Truckers, and fair play to them! They haul some serious stuff across the ice and permafrost. I don't think I could ever do that.

ooby: There are plenty of trucking jobs in Denmark, but it's more the experience of driving huge trucks on huge highways in a big country. Plus it would be a huge boost for my cv to put "Previous experience: Driving in Canada" on it

What will I use my truck driving license for?

I did say courier business in the blog, implying that it's vans, but sometimes things get lost in text. Maybe I needed to be clearer about that :). I am doing the trucking school, because I do not have a driving license, and they will give me one as a part of the education. I am thinking that I might as well take the truck license as well, so I have it just in case I need to borrow a big truck at some point. That saves me having to find a company to haul the items for me. I can do it myself, saving money on that :)

What will I use my truck driving license for?

Jim: I never said trucking business :). I am thinking a small courier business, where I have one van and just me as employee. If the business grows, maybe I will add a truck to it. But as it stands now, my plan is to be a man with a van. It's not fully decided yet, but just an idea that I have

What will I use my truck driving license for?

Pat: The education begins in August, so I am not going through school just yet. In less than five months I will, though. I will take one day at a time, once I do begin

Edison: I do play videogames, but that's to relax and recharge. Over the last five weeks, I have applied for 50 jobs, which is 10 per week. A lot of them are not getting back to me, so I might have to redo my cv. Also, let's break down the entire education. The basic training section is 20 weeks, or 5 months.. After that, I am facing fourteen different periods: seven back at school and seven doing work experience. The first 1.5 weeks, I am getting my Cat B driving license, for car. Then it's time for some work experience at a company of my own choosing. Then, it's time to head back to school to get my Cat C license, which is regular truck as well as some more subjects, key to my future line of work. That period is 6.8 weeks. Then it's back to do some more work experience. Once that is done, it's back to school yet again for about a months time, where I get Cat C/E and ADR licenses. Once that is done, it's back on work experience. At the end of that work experience time, it's back to school and time to pick what I am going to focus on: Freight, tanker, moving or boilers. That segment of school lasts about 6 and a half weeks. Then it's back to working, and then time for three weeks of trailer training. When I pass that, it's off to work again. Once that is done, it's back to school for about 4 weeks to learn about transporting across the borders to Sweden or Germany, as well as a school trip abroad. Then it's time to go back to work for the penultimate time. Once I have completed that, it's time to head back to school yet again for about 5 weeks, where I will focus on graduating. Once I have graduated, it's time for the final round of job experience, and then I am done and fully educated. The entire education lasts for about two and a half years years or so, but I am setting aside four years in order to give myself enough experience, money and skills, in order to best succeed in my future as a self-employed person. I am going to be on government funded study help for the 20 weeks, and after that, I am getting a real salary, which will help me to save up quite a sizeable amount of money. Three and a half years of saving about $951 a month gives me $39942. The house in my blog was $19831, so I will be able to buy that, or something similarly priced. I might put more aside, depending on how much I can spare.

I hope that was explained properly. If not, please do ask away

What will I use my truck driving license for?

Edison: Well, with that attitude it will fail. Keep an open mind :). I am hunkering down, focusing on my future and what I would like to do, once I am finished with my education. That is being an adult and growing up. If I had said, that I wanted to play video games, watch movies and not have my own place at all, then I can understand the grow up and try to be an adult, but here I am actively setting a goal, that I am moving towards. It'll all be fine dancing

Time to throw myself into the dating world again.

Fonda: No, why would you think that?

Time to throw myself into the dating world again.

Thank you, Jim :)

On it again as a temp worker!

Oh, I am not gonna be there forever. If I am honest, it's only until I can begin my education in August. It's about 5 months away, so if I have temp work until the day before I begin my education, then that's a definite plus :)

I got this great idea!

Bob: I haven't watched tv since 2015. I mainly watch YouTube videos, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime and a bunch of movies. Plus I play video games, so that's pretty much where my entertainment comes from

Chesney: We metalheads are the nicest bunch of people you will ever meet!

I got this great idea!

Bob: Well.. I have been listening to the more heavier type of music since I was fifteen, so about 20 years, and I have never felt anything that remotely resembles a spell on me, after a particularly gruesome song

Loh: This isn't ASMR in the traditional sense. It's gonna be me, smooth-reading the lyrics to songs.. Maybe that is ASMR.. I don't know what it is, if I am honest :D

Vierkaesehoch: Ah yes, the whole copyright stuff. I do believe, that if you put your own spin on it, then you do not need permission from the creator of the song to do your own version of it. Furthermore, loads of bands interact with their fans, and often allow them to do covers of their tracks, since a majority of metal bands aren't signed. I know two bands who will be okay with it: Distant and Brand of Sacrifice. But I will look into all the rules and such if I do decide to launch my spoken song career laugh

Goodbye hair and plans for Friday.

robrt787: YouTube is a gem when it comes to instructional videos, but I don't need one that shows how to cut your own hair, since I always go Full Metal Jacket. Kind of like a reset of all my hair. I think the last time I went to a haircutter was... Fifteen years ago, I think..

Jim: Correct laugh

Eleven places I would like to visit in the future!

Allegria46 - Ah yes, that's my mistake. I made some edits before I published the blog, and I forgot to remove Vienna from the Switzerland section. Thank you for letting me know :)

RE: What's Your Favorite Music Video?

I would also like to report a murder, because this guy has murdered his poor guitar!

RE: What's Your Favorite Music Video?

And over in the less heavy corner (per my last post)

RE: What's Your Favorite Music Video?

I am usually not into music videos, since 99.9% of them are awful. But sometimes, you find a gem like this one here

On a waiting list - 964 people in front of me!

jac: It'll take a while, yes. Unless I am gonna look elsewhere for a place. I am willing and prepared to move to a different part of the country for a job and a place to live

On a waiting list - 964 people in front of me!

Jac: I was number 1024, but the number keeps going up and down, because some people are having their places dormant, and when they reactivate it again, I get pushed back. They were there before me, so I don't really mind it
