Our personality is shaped by three factors according to psychologists.
Psychological Biological Social
Psychological means the way we think, how we take information, biological depends on our genes, the thought patterns we carry from our parents and even on our physical structure. Social factors depend on the kind of parents we had, the surrounding environment, schools, colleges we attended. In fact our personality is nothing more than learned behaviour that can be changed at any time during our lives. We are never stuck with what we believe to be our personalty, we can always learn to change, that is what personal growth is all about.
One would imagine there would be no chance of being killed by a shark if you stay out of the ocean, but this isn't necessarily the case. There was once a guy who was killed by a shark whilst driving home from work...
Apparently his car was involved in a collision with a truck transporting a shark in a large glass tank. The tank shattered and the shark was ejected from the truck straight through the unfortunate motorists windscreen, killing him instantly on impact.
Now that is what you might call really bad luck!!!
"You cannot know God, he is utterly unknowable."...St Thomas Aquinas.
God is beyond the thinking mind, beyond words, beyond description. Look to, and feel the subtle energy of consciousness to experience your God within, but you will never explain it with words.
Methinks you need to get your emotions out of the way...
Intuition, or gut feeling, as we sometimes refer to it, is our way of subconsciously assessing a situation, knowing all the facts but bypassing our normal thought processes which are usually confused by our emotions. Of course it can't always be right, but without our emotions clouding the picture, a clearer and truer decision is often made.
The only way you can ask in your heart, is by loving, compassion, empathy, good thoughts and kindness....Should all practice these "good works," maybe we would not need to ask, we would already be there.
But the medical people tell us SSRI's etc. are not addictive in order to kowtow to the drugs industry. And they are right, according to their definition of addiction. But, they do lead to high dependency, and that is not disputed...that makes the drug companies happy.
Like I said, probably not the thread to discuss this, but if anyone wants to do a bit of research on the subject, they could maybe start here...almost three hours long though.
Maybe not the thread to discuss this pedro, but many people are only just realizing the damage psychotropic drugs are doing to masses of the population, especially in the United States.
Peshawar to Chitral, Northwest Frontier, Pakistan. 409km, twenty seven hours, ambushed twice, two flat tyres, driver beaten up three times, he also broke his toe. Other than that, quite an uneventful journey.
I've just spent five days at a Buddhist retreat...no mention of a saviour there.
And btw, how can you state with such certainty there is not a higher power? With a closed mind a person will be separated from their higher consciousness, unable to find the key to unlock the door, they will spend their lives bound by the chains of a materialistic and unloving society.
But there's still time to wake up and become conscious, it's never too late.
Evidence is reassuring...it strengthens the ego, it's need to be autonomous, the soul is a threat to the ego, or the true self. Many people do not want to or can't see beyond the egoic self in order to find the true self. This is where your evidence can be found, look within.
You're confusing romantic love with authentic love. Romantic love is nearly always an extreme form of attachment, or obsession.
Authentic love is from the heart, not your physical heart, but the heart of your consciousness, sometimes referred to as the soul, or the authentic self. It's in you...always.
RE: Can you define LOVE?! What Love is?
Love is not an emotion, it is a state of being within. It is not found anywhere other than where you are, because it is what you are.
