Indeed, the discussion should and will always continue....
But just to point out, Trish was not banned because of her relentless pursuit of the 'god squad'. Whenever she took them on she always stated her point of view and produced many interesting and informative posts without resorting to name calling or insulting behaviour. She would lock horns regularly with MikeHD for one on the subject, but remained good friends The ban was for other reasons, in fact she still has her profile on here, but when she tries to post in the forums, she still gets the message...
"you cannot post in the forums for a period of one to two weeks."
How can you prove the unknowable? How can you prove a feeling?...You can't.
"The highest form of speaking about God, is to know that one does not know. God is unknowable, that means God cannot be comprehended by the thinking mind."
St Thomas Aquinas.
"The fact is that you're surrounded by God and you don't see God because you 'know' about God. The final barrier to the vision of God is your God concept. You miss God because you think you know. That's the terrible thing about religion. That's what the gospels were saying, that religious people 'knew,' so they got rid of Jesus. The highest knowledge of God is to know God as unknowable."
Indeed, whether or not a person matures as a human being, is a direct function of their ability to take responsibility for choices, to stop blaming others or expecting rescue from them, and acknowledge there will be the pain of loneliness from time to time however much they may be involved in social roles and relationships. I've posted this before, but I do like the way Clark Moustakis observes it....
"Loneliness is a condition of human life, an experience of being human which enables the individual to sustain, extend, and deepen his humanity. Efforts to overcome or escape the existential experience of loneliness can only result in self-alienation. When man is removed from a fundamental truth of life, when he successfully evades and denies the terrible loneliness of individual existence, he shuts himself off from the one significant avenue of his self growth."
There's a huge difference between knowledge and awareness, between, information and awareness, even between knowing and awareness. To become aware is to live...and to live every minute in awareness is to live a life of true fulfillment.
Awareness doesn't arise out of education or knowledge...it's a state of being.
