RE: Bush

I met him and Sec Rice in Kuwait in January. I thought both were realy nice people. I have never believed either are the evil people some believe they are. I believe he's doing what he believes is best and he's not trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes or he would be much more popular than he is. JMO

RE: o'bama o'bama o'bama o'bama

Yes it does and at the same time it sounds like some of those from the religeous right.

I believe these folks start out as well meaning people and they get lost along the way. They seem unable to see anything except that which they believe and there are plenty of people to fell in line with them. Enthusiasm that leads to extreemism or whatever other name we put on it is bad.

RE: I think riyas gr8

I think most people would be in agreement. Always a kind and thoughtful word from her.

RE: o'bama o'bama o'bama o'bama

I suspect there were a lot of people who did that the last time.

RE: o'bama o'bama o'bama o'bama

Awwww c'mon now... You just set yourself up for something bad....laugh

You have now given us a choice between thinking Obama is really well educated and intelligent but a hypocrit for being involved with something he doesn't believe in or the opposite, he's not really smart therefore he believes in God. laugh

Come now, you're better than that..

RE: o'bama o'bama o'bama o'bama

Yes, we are somewhat split at the moment. What concerns me most is the anger (much born of ignorance, fear and hate) spewed from the mouths/keyboards of some people on some of these threads. (I mean in general and not just a select few) Hopefully we are not an accurate reflection of society as a whole and some of the venom is because of the freedom enjoyed in cyber space.

RE: o'bama o'bama o'bama o'bama

Thanks Opalbeauty, that was a nice comment.

I always try to be nice in these threads. They can get heated at times and people lose their cool (self included) I do like to make up my own mind on things and am able to change it given the way things go. Unfortunately, you and I just see things differently and we'll just have to agree to disagree about Obama. I don't think he's a bad guy, just not the right guy for the job. And for the record, I didn't like all the Muslim hype about and stood against it when it was being said. I do believe he made a bad decision with this church issue and I think it's going to cost him the election if it gains a bit more momentum. I suppose we'll all see what the majority think soon enough.

Anyway, thanks again for the comment

RE: o'bama o'bama o'bama o'bama

Being President is a little like being God. You get blamed for everything and credit for nothing.

I just think God (Washington - Bush (Pick one)) that we'll all have another person to blame for our problems in the near future. The next President like the current one will not be the Messiah and fix everthing for us. This is especially true in Obama's case

RE: Your views and experiences with them.

I would say more of them do not agree with the way women are treated and the limits placed on them with the exception of those I know from Saudi Arabia. They, for the most part support the limits and even if they didn't agree, they complied.

Places like Kuwait, Bahrain and other countries are much more liberal. Women are allowed to drive and go out by themselves. I suspect the same will be true in Iraq and Afghanistan if/when those places can find peace.

Hope that answers your questions..

RE: Your views and experiences with them.

I've been in and out of the middle east since 1991 and spent a lot of time with Muslims. Some I developed really close friendships with and stay in contact with. What I have discoverd is they are no different than me or anyone else. They have many of the same needs and wants that we in the western world have. I was never once made to feel uncomfortable about being a Christian and I never once tried to convert them. I guess that's why we got along. We both respected each other's beliefs and each other as people.

I don't agree with some of their practices, especially when it comes to the treatment of women and the power religeous persons exercise but that's really not mine to judge. Change will have to come from within if it comes at all.

In any case, it is unfortunate that a relatively few have brought such discredit and unwaranted hate to so many. I believe Islam is peaceful in nature but anyone with extreemists views in any religeon could do the pretty much the same thing we see happening today.

A Day at the Vet - Beware, this is not for everyone

A Day At The Vet's
One day a man took his poodle to the veterinarian. As he walked into the waiting
room, he noticed a very attractive young woman with her Great Dane.
He sits next to her, trying desperately to think of *something* to say to this
woman. The best he can come up with is, "That's a big dog."
She smiles, and leans over to pat his dog on the head. She turns and says, "Yes,
he is. Now, what's wrong with your little dog?"
He replies, "Well, he's a male dog, you see. And whenever we have company
over, he trys to introduce various bits of himself to their shins. It's become a
problem, so I'm here to take care of it."
"So, why are you and your really big dog here?" He's really hitting it off with her!
"Well, my dog is male too. I have the same problem with him: when I bend over
in the kitchen, he jumps up behind me, puts his paws on my shoulders and,
well,..."
"Oh, yes, I see," the man interrupts. "So you're hear to get him fixed too?"
"Oh no,... to get his nails clipped.

Confession

After 7 times in one night I'm surprised she's walking at alllaugh

Confession

A young woman goes to church to confess her sins to the priest.
"Forgive me Father, for I have sinned."
"Tell me all of your sins, my daughter."
"Oh, Father, last night my boyfriend made hot, passionate love to me seven times," she says.
The priest thinks about this long and hard, and says, "Take seven lemons and squeeze the juice into a tall glass,
and drink it."
"Will this cleanse my soul of my sins?"
"No," the priest says, "but it'll wipe that smile off your face!"

RE: European Survey Concening the "brits"

I like Malta as well. I've been in and out of Malta for the past 3 years. Love the water and can't wait for it to warm up a bit more.

RE: Poll:what do you find most baffeling about Americans

I think that's all done with since Rambo has officially went home

RE: European Survey Concening the "brits"

Thanks Jacko, I agree. Unfortunately these things always leave bad feelings but with time hopefully they will mend. BTW, this may be a dumb question but are you still in Malta?

RE: European Survey Concening the "brits"

I have no idea and don't really know much about that period of time.
