Reading these posts, I'm getting images of a lot of males sitting at their keyboards typing with one hand while clutching their childhood's "blanky" in the other...shudder...
(I always thought Crustacean would make a great name for a Pope; just call him Crusty for short %D )
Interesting question...if it is man who is racing to find women of quality, would he even recognize her; if it is woman who is racing to find men of quality as she would like man to have, then she may never reach that far off finish line and will simply give up and settle for the least objectionable, as will man...while we may be at the starting line, we are separated by a vast gulf of misunderstanding between ourselves. It is sad.
Hallo Trish!! Hope you had a very nice Christmas und a good Solstice Day celebration! About Philosophy...I started to notice a pattern among the older generation of my parents and this patten carried into mine about the ones that had majored in and all the various levels of degrees in it. Most that I knew from all over the world, have turned out totally mixed up in regards to their ideals, beliefs, goals in life and their personal lives all total wrecks; their professional lives total disasters because they just could not ever make decisions and stick to them; constantly changing their views and perspectives, usually resulting in total confusion as to what to do, think, keep or get rid of in their lives. They all seemed to want to take all roads at the same times and they basically became mired in swamps of too much knowledge, too many perspectives; too many what-if's. When I had to study it at university; even at high school level, I found it leading to utter mental chaos and dropped it as soon as I could. I'm thankful I did. All my other teachers agreed also...%D
I'd agree with you in general as "education" or "book smarts" does not automatically mean they have any common sense or are practical about everyday living, let alone even mechanically able to fix simple household items, nor would be deemed to be any sort of "genius" at anything; ie. accountants are deemed smart but most won't and can't cope with "creative book-keeping" to hide or cover certain profits and accounts... Education is implying intelligence; possible knowledge of/ in many diverse topics and these many interests depends upon several things such as just what type of education one has and in what areas; a degree in basket weaving isn't the same as one in Political Science; nor is that one equivalent in any way to a degree in Medieval Literature which is a highly specialized and too narrow a field. One would be better off with a "Liberal Arts" program. That at least has no limits to any level and would certainly lead to a more interesting development of knowledge and character. Education does not automatically make a person "nicer", having higher degrees does not make nor guarantee that the person will be open minded, more sociable let alone more attractive or interesting,( I'm reminded of that everytime I look onto a mirror!) In the final analysis, it all comes down to one's interests; the more you have in common and the levels of education in common, the better the chances of compatability and most importantly, being able to communicate with each other effectively without misinterpretating them. The advantages of degrees is that it does provide one with a proven way to think and to articulate; it doesn't mean however that it won't stiffel one's imagination if not eradicate your innate abilities to adapt to a world of constant change... Education is simply self improvement, certified or not. Some of the most screwed-up and unhappy people I know or have ever met were all highly educated with several degrees...all in Philosophy. Can that be taken as a clue...a warning...? For myself, I'm glad that I took another road, one far less travelled by anyone in their right mind and made my own. %)
Being graceful can be a joy to see and/or hear, being clumsy can be funny ...for both. The only thing that I would ask of a woman is that if you get lost walking around the house, go to any end and you'll find a staircase...%D
Never have lost the desire for music; have one player for the old Edison cylinders, one for 78's, one combo unit for 78's,33's and 45's and one just for 45's as well as some for cd's scattered around various rooms. Lots to choose from, depending on mood or what type of art work I'm doing; if I'm drawing or painting an African or Chinese piece, whatever, then I put that type of music on to really try and "get into the theme" and it does help...
Pretty close to what I'll do; after I prepare the Turkey dinner for my son and daughter, as they like Turkey, I'm retreating down to the old wine cellar with a few movies for the next day or two...for some peace and quiet...%)
The ancient ruins on Malta and similar ones along the North African coast; an ancient ruins cruise down the Nile to Dendera and finally to the Cydonia region of Mars to see the vast complexes of pyramids and other ruins there. From all that I've seen of the many photos and computer enhancement to talking with several astronomers who are convinced of their reality and that NASA is in fact trying desperately to hide their reality, I'd not hesitare to go if it were possible.
I'm amazed at some of the wonderful posts on this thread without all the usual interrupting snide, bitter, belittling comments so frequently posted by those unable to form a single, original and coherent opinion on most anything. While I find some Religions and theologies quite logical, always depending upon the author and others totally defy logic, the choices are many; many for all seasons as opposed to One for all. If one wants pure logic, one can read the Suma Theologica from St. Thomas Aquinas or the books on Science and theology by the French Jesuit/Scientist Pierre Teilhard De Chardin, especially his book on Christianity and evolution which put him virtually on the banned lists for years while the debates raged on. I'm more fascinated by seeking the one, single origin of all the world's religions and civilizations, which is ancient Sumeria; the oldest known on our planet. Sifting through all the various ancient religions, their evolutions and translations, all trails do seem to lead back to that one single point. Therein are the keys to unlock all the unknowns we have inherited from all others. Some of those keys seem to have been inadvertently translated but the as yet impact hasn't yet been elucidated, nor appreciated. If the author Zecharia Sitchin has been correct in his interpretations and translations, of which there is seemingly no longer any doubts, by the few remaining experts on all the ancient "Biblical" languages, then I think and believe that those mysteries , puzzles and myths will finally be deciphered. I have followed this subject since childhood with never ending fascination. Recently in a new book dealing mostly with the Near Death Experiencers, some rather astounding findings were found and verified, among which Carl Sagan, the notorious God-denying, name calling, ridiculing UFO proponents, know-it-all had in fact began backing the translations and writings of Sitchen and that many of the ancient translations including findings of researchers on the NDE so disturbed the Rev. Billy Graham that it affected him very deeply from the beliefs that he had held. His brand of religion was exclusionary and he often voiced his distain for Islam as an example...While Islam did and has stressed our commonalities such as the Old Testament Prophets... The sum of the possibilities is that there is, there will be no grounds for any exclusionary theologies and several other matters. It is one thing I hope to finally see in my lifetime...it is so close....
Probably, put out of pity and to wish him good luck on whatever his endeavor is(if he is still actually alive), but I really don't like hugging CIA assets or stooges as I find them anathema.
I was just informed by CS that e-cards haven't yet been put into our nav bars yet but will be in a day or so; that they will not be in mailbox but separate from it. I asked CS as I've got several notices for them but can't access them to open...ahhh well better the surprise I guess; nice surprise though. %)
Though I walk through the valleys of twilight zones, I will try not to judge others until I walked a mile on their medication or would it be the other way around....
Just read of a Mexican student found running naked along the coast in Victoria, British Columbia; said he got hot while smoking marijuana...well, there is another reason to ban marijuana...it produces naked Mexican students. He is being deported....
As the Canadian comedian Russell Peters once said, let's give a cheer to all the ugly peoples out there who make others beautiful....or should it be the other way around...?
Ummmm, yes I could, but it would last only as long as the chocolates , then again I could always send myself and be forever on their lips...........cursing! Decisions, decisions...oh the agonies of it all....%D Hope you are well as can be up there in your "winterwonderland"! %)
There's an old saying about something (foods, etc.) going from the lips will soon be on the hips; ummm, well there you are, if the two of you dress up for a Halloween party, you both can go as Chocolate Kisses...%D
Nothing to lose?? Of course there are things to lose and all you end up with is being highly embarrassed. Nothing to fear though; the voices in my head keep yelling at me to leave people alone and like a fool, I listen so everything is nice and calm and very quiet.%/
"Normal" is a rather relative term I have found. Perhaps a lot of them simply like to kill things that can't shoot back....I tried it a few times and found no sport in it at all. Left it for only when needed while in the service. Found a better thing to "hunt" animals with: a camera; that takes much more stealth and the animals get to live....
Beautiful sentiments; it all seems so much more serene when our children are small doesn't it; how much closer to Heaven they are while we adults get further and further away...
The only shows that I've liked and haven't yet found on dvd is Mork and Mindy and one English mini series called Invasion; have most of Babylon 5 sets...those are expensive and very sporadic in stores...loved the X Files. Now I rarely have to watch other than news shows. None of the shows now on appeal to me at all.
Art, artifacts, antiques,(mostly furniture, books, assorted weapons) electronic surveillance detectors...why not; no wife or girlfriend. Aren't most things that we purchase "collectible items"...%)
