Concern about Germany? You should be concerned about Russia. Germany has had a relatively small armed forces since WW2, for obvious reasons. Now it sees the danger around it and has decided it better get a bit stronger, reasonably enough.
You don't understand the figures. Ukraine is a very big country, about 40 million. The vast majority are ethnic Ukrainians, with a folk memory of Stalin's murderous rule. His attempts to break the country by diluting it didn't work.
Don't see how it's relevant that Russia gave 20 million lives in WW2 but if you want to go back a few years earlier you'd remember that Stalin's policies led to the loss of 2 million lives in Ukraine. He replaced these people with people from other parts of the USSR. No wonder the Ukrainians fear Putin.

The great poached egg conundrum! I bought a thing like a spoon that you dip into the boiling water and put the egg into the spoon, absolutely useless....the egg didn't cook and the steam from the water was running down the walls. I went back to the original method of just putting it in the boiling water and it just broke up all over the place. A pity as a poached egg is nice food.
