You could be right, it's just the idea of taking money from kids. I agree with the point your making that there are women who choose the single mother life as an option because of the generous payments. The bars and nightclubs are always jam packed when they get their payments and it does make you wonder what the kiddies at home are going without. But don't worry the day is coming when the state will be stepping in on these women and this proposed cut is just the start of some very hard times for them.
Acutally women desert their children more than men do. Men are more often absent from the home because the mother decided to end the relationship or because they were never there to begin with because she chose to be a single mother; both situations being funded by the welfare state.
Oh yes, in extreme circumstances where the man manages to keep some money they feel they are owed they will send him to prison but it's more profitable to keep him out and working.
Taking someone's money is stealing. If a man is not part of a family why should he contribute? Because some secret court says so?

Yeah, we have something similar in Ireland. They gave up sending men to prison as soon as they realised they could steal the money directly from their income at source by getting women to take applications in the courts. Soon enough though, as with the United Kingdom, it will be the state taking this money and not the mothers.
There are two ways we can come to conclusions about time and about the Universe (nice topic shifting there Pedro. Like Time wasn't enough to be going on with). There are the theories though up by the scientists and philosophers and then there is direct perception. Direct perception is where you use your mind to perceive the universe at it's finest levels and hopefully come to conclusions. Maybe I should add a third way and that is following a faith which gives us a dogma but maybe that is a kind of theory too.

Think of a river flowing full and fast. Pick a drop of water right in front of you. Like the second, it's gone on as soon as you tag it. But it's still there, further downriver. And like time, water is only coming from someplace and going from someplace because of our small awareness. If you go up to the International Space Station all the water on Earth is going nowhere. If you go outside our solar system our measurements of time mean nothing. That's why it's so hard to understand; because it is not real, it's only an illusion.

Christmas is only celebrated by Christians and Wiccans/Pagans. Muslims, Buddhists, Zoroastrians, Taoists, Hindus and all the rest don't even know it's Christmas. The Jews have Hanukkah which is about the same time but sure you know the Jews they'd crucify a Christ himself if they could.
I heard them on about that on the radio today. It makes me wonder what they are going to tax or regulate next on the pretext of making us all healthier? This is what happens when people keep voting for more and more state regulation and more and more laws to cure every ill in society. I say it's up to each person to take responsibility for themselves and live with the consequences. Nought to do with the state.
