Ramblings of a Retired Mind

Thanks...the "curve" might be my best chance...keeping fingers crossed!

Ramblings of a Retired Mind

Ramblings of a Retired Mind

I was thinking about how a status symbol of today is those cell phones that everyone has clipped onto their belt or purse. I can't afford one. So, I'm wearing my garage door opener. I also made a cover for my hearing aid and now I have what they call blue teeth, I think.

You know, I spent a fortune on deodorant before I realized that people didn't like me anyway.

I was thinking that women should put pictures of missing husbands on beer cans!

I was thinking about old age and decided that old age is 'when you still have something on the ball, but you are just too tired to bounce it.'

I thought about making a fitness movie for folks my age, and call it 'Pumping Rust'.

I've gotten that dreaded furniture disease. That's when your chest is falling into your drawers!

When people see a cat's litter box, they always say, 'Oh, have you got a cat?' Just once I want to say, 'No, it's for company!'

Employment application blanks always ask who is to be notified in case of an emergency. I think you should write, 'A Good Doctor'!

Why do they put pictures of criminals up in the Post Office? What are we supposed to do...write to these men?

Why don't they just put their pictures on the postage stamps so the mailmen could look for them while they deliver the mail? Or better yet, arrest them while they are taking their pictures!

I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older. Then, it dawned on me, they were cramming for their finals.

As for me, I'm just hoping God grades on the curve.

yay

RE: older

Wow Claayer...I read the part about a "Tv License"...and had to go look it up! I never knew people had to pay(except for Cable, here in the states) to watch a TV. At 59...I never heard of such... I'm still shaking my head from side to side in dis-belief. And I thought we(USA)had it bad... Thanks for your info, or I would never have known...peace

RE: He is 43 (but looks 30) I am 26. Will there be a happy end in our relationship?

Hi. well, lets see...I can ONLY tell you of my experience. My last wife was 19 years younger than myself. It was odd in the beginning...we would go to the walk-in theater, stand in line...and noticed people look at us with puzzlement on their faces...they must have thought I was her dad...but we were holding hands...but you get use to it. We dated/live-together 5 years, before she was able to convince me that she loved me enough to live the rest of our lives together. See...I had been married before, and didn't want to go through the pain of a divorce again. So, during the dating period(5 years), and the married period(also another 5 years)...if you didn't know us...you'd think we were "newly weds" the whole time. Always hugging, holding hands, kissing...the works(like 2 kids in love). But as life would have it...nothing lasts forever. When she reached a time when she felt like she had missed out on part of her younger life(dating, hanging out, doing things that teens do)...things began to unravel/come-apart.

It was tough(breakup)...but like anything else...you get over it. And to think about it now...I wouldn't have turned down the opportunity to have loved the way we did. To be honest(in my opinion)...go for what your heart tells you. Nothing in the world is ever guaranteed...except death and taxes! The rest you have to make work for YOU! That much age difference has it's draw-backs, and it's advantages...just like anything else in this world. Your not going to find your answer anywhere else, but in your heart. I see age as only a number, and you can have doubts, and problems at any age. Maybe try talking to a marriage counselor, pastor...someone of professional status trains to discuss these matters of the heart with you. Bottom line...I'm not telling you to go for it, or to run from it...that is your decision. Just look at it with an open mind. Go with what makes you happy...because heart ache dose not have an age limit!

Good luck in your endeavor to figure out what is best for you. comfort

RE: linux anyone?

Hey Hunter...I'll follow your thread to see how you end up like it. I've repaired PC's for 20+ years...so, yeah...most anything would better than Windows. Also, started repairing Mac's a few years back also, which is a Linux based system...love my Mac! Thought about getting another computer just to put the Ubuntu on it, and give it a "whirl" myself. From the reviews I've read...it is pretty cool. There is another Live system that came out...the DSL(Dam Small Linux), that also run on a disc. Anyway...waiting to see how you end up with your venture.

RE: Bad news today.

90% of the time...the first attempt will be denied(I don't know why)as here in Ala...and sure most other places. I happen to be one of the lucky ones(I guess w/triple bypass, and diabetic)mine went through the 1st try(did the paper work myself). There is an ad here local on TV...from an attorney...that say 90% of the reason people don't get approved, is because they give up, and not reapply/appeal their case. Give it another try with a lawyer...you worked for it, you deserve it.
