I don't know why people put labels like alpha on themselves on the first place. It is almost as if they have to keep up with the image then
If a couple respect each other, and value the other person's knowledge and experience, then there should not be a problem. Nobody is good at absolutely everything. Couples who work well make good use of each other's strengths.
If they are just pigheaded and stubborn, they should call it that, and not mask it in the alpha label.
To a non-gin drinker, it will all taste similar anyway. I have veen to gin bars and tasted everything from pink to gunpowder. There are subtle differences in flavour and strength. I don't really like gin that much though, so if I were buying a bottle, I wouldn't bother going expensive.
