Do you find that the older you get, the faster time seems to go by? Here we are almost 2 weeks into March and to me, it feels like it has come so fast. I heard the old fellas say that it all goes by in a blink. I didn't understand that when I was young because when you are 10, 10 years is literally a whole lifetime which seems like forever where as by the time you hit 45 - 50, 10 years only only a fraction of your life and it seems like it goes by a lot faster.
Seems like only a few years ago I was 25 and on the beat but its been a long time since I was 25 and will only get longer. If I had my time back when I was young knowing what I know now, I would avoid the drugs, not worry about anything, and live live live while I had the energy and health to do it.
Not that I am complaining, still plenty of fun and living to do in later years too, just can't stay on the go till 5 am anymore
Its started now, can only hunker down and ride it out and deal with the aftermath when it comes. There is tropical moisture trapped in the system hence the insane amount of snow and the wind is supposed to be high as well.
I doubled up her food, electric blanket is on, she is good for a week at least. I feed her every 2nd or 3rd day with canned and top up the dry food and water for the rest of it (big bowls). I don't go out everyday because it really stressed her out when I go into her room and I don't like doing it to her too often. Unless they had good experiences with people from kitten hood, ferals tend to be very afraid or very aggressive (fear driven) with people.
This one I got now is afraid, she scatters like a bat out of hell when I open the door into her safe spot down the side of the wall. Had her for years and its only me she see's. Had other ferals that would stand where they were to when they see you and start giving you the business and if you know whats good for you, you better keep a 5 foot distance from the cat or that cat gonna fk you up in the worst kind of way. Either way, it stresses them out a lot and I know they have a period of recovery time to get back to the normal pace.
Having said that, some ferals that are rescued early in life can eventually become house pets, I had a couple over the years. You don't want to provoke them in the meantime but if everything lines up right, they can become house pets.
The storm is supposed to last until Saturday (calling for up to 80 cm in the updated forecast), so I am hoping I will be doing better by then. If I can't however, I won't push myself to try (been there, done that). I will play it by ear and as it unfolds, I will deal with it as best as I can accordingly. Worst case scenario is I have to wait a few days to get dug out as everyone will need time to dig themselves out.
In the meantime, I took some pot edibles earlier and I plan to spend the evening completely wasted out of my mind watching the storm
I can't shovel feeling like I am now, just no way. Probably gonna have to call someone to help out. Lucky though that my cousin plows my driveway but still need to clean up around the door and put a path to the shed because I have a ferral cat living there that needs to be tended to.
