Well now that I know you're a snow girl... Lake Tahoe!!! Tahoe and the surrounding area is one of the most beautiful places on earth. You can live on the Ca. side or Nev. side. One of the things the Nev side has going is no sales tax.
It's also an area that gives you all 4 seasons in amazing splendor without extremes. While you get lots of beautiful sunshine in the summer it never gets to hot, the autumn puts on one of the most beautiful shows of color, plenty snow in the winter, but not horrible storms that leave you stuck inside for days on end, and the spring... with all the nature around, it's indescribable. Compared to the rest of CA real estate prices are actually pretty reasonable... while Californians like to go to the snow, most don't like to live in it! If you google Lake Tahoe and select images you'll see what I mean! Oh and loads of part time jobs if you're near the Casinos.
Well I don't know anything about your likes and dislikes, life style etc. but you come across as someone who prefers small towns to big cities, likes beautiful scenery around them and enjoys an open minded and artistic community... If I'm at right then I would suggest Northern California. The area Jay lives in is beautiful with lots of beautiful small towns in beautiful redwood forest with the magnificent pacific ocean near by.
A little further up the coast is the town of Mendocino, one of my favorite areas, it is incredibly beautiful. The biggest draw back to this area is work, if you have work you can do from home... writer, artist, etc no problem, other then that you are looking at waitress, bartender, working in a shop... there is very little industry in the area.
A little further inland and you have the beautiful Napa valley, if you are into wine at all this is the Mecca of California wineries and there are lots of jobs in the wine industry... I could see you working in the tasting room of a small family run winery... The one drawback to being further inland is it does get quite hot in the summer, but not as bad as in the south and it always cools down in the evenings.
All of these areas are perfect if you have the money to invest in a B&B if that sort of thing appeals to you.
It's not just a line, it's a reality... such an amazing experience, about 10 to 20 drummers show up on the beach every evening to say goodbye to the sun and welcome the moon, and after the sun slips completely away the fire dancers start... it's magic
Only 3 more weeks of unlimited play on CS then it's going to be a bit sporadic. Opening a new restaurant/jazz bar here in Ibiza... Life's about to get crazy!
