I understand your anger, but politics has so much to do with these disasters. Look at the New Orleans area... If the repair to the levys had been approved 2 years prior... the damage would have been so much less then what happened, and look at what happened with response time to the emergency and the problems with assistance afterwards. It's not always obvious but politics rears its head in nearly every aspect of our lives.
It shouldn't be a matter of "putting down". There age negative and positive positions on all subject matter, I believe we should be able to discuss both sides of a situation without putting anyone down. What is most amusing about this entire thread is the fact that I do have a lot of criticism about the politics in the U.S., enough that I left my business, friends and family to live somewhere else. I support questioning, and critiquing, but I do feel it's wrong to post a thread in a manner that inflames people and produces anger instead of debate.
Thanks for the support, but the fact is I really enjoy a good debate, and will sometimes take the opposite side of what I personally believe in order to facilitate more information on a topic. So I don't really want to shut it down... maybe I'm just missing my debate club from Uni.

Yes, I consider this a personal attack and not a response to what I posted. As I have stated I am U.S. citizen, lived there for 38 years, still pay taxes there and have all of my family there, how does what happens there not concern me as much if not more then someone from Nova Scotia?
Guess I'm just getting tired of being jumped on, rarely do I get people who debate to what I post... instead they tell me to stay off the post??? I'm just having a hard time figuring out this reaction. I don't think my posts are offensive... I make it a point to debate the subject, not the person and try to research several sources before forming an opinion.

Starting out with "what is wrong with you americans" seems like kind of a harsh way to start a healthy debate. When I made comment about that you attacked me, who over reacted?
The nonsense began when The Washington Post produced a front page story by Perry Bacon Jr. on Nov. 29, "Foes Use Obama's Muslim Ties to Fuel Rumors About Him." The story addressed the rumors which have been circulating regarding whether or not Obama is a Muslim. Following the publication of the piece, Politico.com exposed the dissension within The Washington Post among its editors who objected to the article. Many bloggers and the Obama campaign saw the article as feeding into the rumor that Obama is a Muslim rather than reporting this as false: the communications director of the Obama campaign called the story “egregious” for Obama is clearly a Christian. The Post’s assistant managing editor for politics, Bill Hamilton, apologized for the piece being “misunderstood” and for his editing. Others jumped into the fray attacking this as a horrible piece of reporting.
Over and over again, the editors and journalists who refer to our story are simply distorting what we reported in order to avoid hard work and embarrassing Hillary Clinton. Our story on January 16, as the title makes perfectly clear--and which reporters often deliberately avoid including--was “Hillary's team has questions about Obama's Muslim background.” The focus was Hillary Clinton, not Barack Obama. For those in the press corps who have a great deal of difficulty in reading properly, we have to repeat the facts again, SLOWLY:
-Insight reported on January 16, 2007 that the Hillary campaign was conducting “opposition research” on her main rival, Barack Obama, with private investigators. -Insight reported on January 16, 2007 that Senator Clinton’s camp was trying to find out the nature of Obama’s Muslim background, what kind of school he had attended in Jakarta, and whether he was concealing his Muslim heritage.

Thank You... knowwhat, oslo, and sparky, concise, well written and to the point addressing all aspects of the so called Muslim background of Obama. All of this info has been presented in other posts but to have it all on one thread so well presented may finally stop these groundless accusations. Funny thing is that I support Clinton, but am disgusted that people from that camp ever raised this question.
Rilly, why the defensiveness? I haven't told anyone how to change the world, I haven't stated an opinion in anyway, shape, or form on this thread, and I'm not sitting on my butt feeling good, saying I told them.
I merely came across a quote that I felt was very unusual for a republican to have made and wanted to know how people felt about it.
I've never been someone to breakup in anger... when I break off a relationship it's for good reason and there is no going back, but I know so many couples who break things off with every argument. Maybe that was how his last relationship was and when he saw signs of the same behavior he decided he didn't want to go through it again.
Once a cat has chosen where they prefer to "poo" they generally stick to it, they are not like dogs... doing it to show anger, lonliness etc. to break the habit you will need to make the bathtub unavailable to her. If it can't be shut off then sometimes putting plastic garbage bigs in the tub will do the trick, most cats don't like the feel of plastic.
That's what I felt made this such an interesting quote when I came across it... considering the postition of the Republicans and the defense budget now...
