I have no problem with criticizing America, I say a lot against the policies in the states, so much so that I felt like a hypocrite living there and now live on a little island in the mediterranean. My problem was not that the thread was critical but in the language that was used, accusatory and inflammatory. By all means lets debate and exchange ideas but can we not try to do it in a civilized adult manner?
Dwight D. Eisenhower once said that every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. Do you agree?
I'm really getting sick and tired of people telling me to stay out of American threads, I am a U.S. citizen, I have payed taxes into the system for over 30 years and still do. My parents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends all still live there, so what happens there does concern me as much if not more then most of the people posting to these threads.
If you don't like my opinions then by all means oppose them but don't tell me where I can or can not post to a thread
While it is great to ask questions that create a healthy debate... the way you have phrased this is to create conflict, not debate. I thought this was something people were trying to get away from?
1. I have never been a Bush supporter
2. Obama is not a Muslim (and no I don't support him for president) get your facts straight before you make statements... attending a school that has a high population of Muslim students for 2 years as a child does not make him a Muslim, he attended a Catholic school as well, why not call him a Catholic? which would be untrue as well
Baby we can talk all night But that aint getting us nowhere I told you everything I possibly can Theres nothing left inside of here And maybe you can cry all night But thatll never change the way that I feel The snow is really piling up outside I wish you wouldnt make me leave here
I poured it on and I poured it out I tried to show you just how much I care Im tired of words and Im too hoarse to shout But youve been cold to me so long Im crying icicles instead of tears
And all I can do is keep on telling you I want you I need you But -- there aint no way Im ever gonna love you Now dont be sad cause two out of three aint bad Now dont be sad cause two out of three aint bad
Youll never find your gold on a sandy beach Youll never drill for oil on a city street I know youre looking for a ruby in a mountain of rocks But there aint no coupe de ville hiding at the bottom of a cracker jack box
I cant lie I cant tell you that Im something Im not No matter how I try Ill never be able To give you something Something that I just havent got
Theres only one girl that I will ever love And that was so many years ago And though I know Ill never get her out of my heart She never loved me back Ooh I know I remember how she left me on a stormy night She kissed me and got out of our bed And though I pleaded and I begged her not to walk out that door She packed her bags and turned right away
And she kept on telling me She kept on telling me She kept on telling me I want you I need you But there aint no way Im ever gonna love you Now dont be sad cause two out of three aint bad I want you I need you But there aint no way Im ever gonna love you Now dont be sad cause two out of three aint bad Dont be sad cause two out of three aint bad
Baby we can talk all night But that aint getting us nowhere
I love creating an environment where people feel happy... the right food, ambiance, music... a feeling of coming home. My dream is to have a cool little coffee house with a bit of local accoustic music, some really tasty sandwiches, soups and salads, friendly staff and comfy chairs and couches, that or a lovely little B&B, with a partner who enjoys these things also to share it all with.
I've found that when a man becomes uncomfortable, angry, upset they have a tendency to retreat to their "cave" following them in just drives them further away... give him some space to come out in his own time and you might be surprised at the results.
Kennedy was probably the worst philanderer of all time but is still listed as on of the greatest presidents of the United States.
The atmosphere of the country had to right for the technology, investors, etc to flourish and Clinton had a lot to do with that. Those things don't come to an instant halt unless conditions become unsuitable.

So after the initial sale the responsibility is gone? I'm sure that many U.S. arms dealers know that the weapons they sell will be sold on to undesirable parties but don't care because it's money in their pocket. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if many of the weapons FARC use are of U.S. manufacture originally.
History is relative... when I was in school we learned that the Sandinista Govt. was an extremely oppressive government and that the US was helping the country by funding the contras... I spent quite a bit of time in Nicaragua and spoke to quite a number of people who had lived under the Sandinista govt. I was told that there was a 95% literacy rate, equal rights for women, and a satisfactory life style for the majority of the population, but the Government was not "friendly" towards the US. Unable to match the funding and arms the Contras were receiving from the States the Sandinista turned to conscription...literally dragging men off street corners to serve in the army. The country has never recovered from US interference... I would hate to see the same thing happen in Venezula.
Thank You Lass!!! I always love the wonderful threads you post and have really enjoyed meeting you here. Thanks for all the laughs, smiles, and awwwwwws. You're a lovely woman!
It's not that easy... sometimes a person just doesn't know and needs to spend some time getting to know you before they can make a decision. Other times they may be interested but geography is a problem...
The only thing I hate is sheer stupidity and narrow minds, and you get that everywhere, not just in dating.
