When I first came in '58 someone said to me you DP's (displaced person) come to this country and buy up land etc. Sir You do not even know what a DP is, I came as an immigrant. Number two why did you not buy the land? You were here before me where you not? I know I would never have been able to buy land or build my own home in my old country. We came and saw the opportunities right away. No one gave us anything we worked and worked hard for it all.

We were together only 40 so would have little chance. The governement stated to show films from Australia, USA, South Africa, Canada, New zealand. We chose Canada. The governement asked if we wanted to come by plane or boat. We chose the boat. A lot of the Dutch started to work in Germany as the money was better there. Who was now left to do the "dirty" work? So people from Poland were brought to Holland. They were to stay only two years, but guess what, they are still living in Holland

This is very painful to say the least. What did I do to deserve this? is the first thing we ask. What did I do wrong? Could I have done something to prevent it from happening? We blame ourselves first and can get stuck in that question.
Well maybe we are really not to be blamed but the other person is. In my case is was my mother first, she would tell me that I irritated her. Found out later my mother had to give up her first child or my dad would not have married her. This first baby came about after and 8 year long engament. The man dropped my mom when she became pregnant.
The second rejection came when the man I had met at fourteen and came to Canada with, started to cheat to bolster his ego. So there I was 28 years old and had no clue about dating etc. I always had my husband to take care of things and now at this age I stood alone for the first time.
So142001, Yes there are many good men and women out there. We all have to kiss al lot of frogs first it seems. Just learn from it all. If I may ask where do you go to find girls. Are you able to start talking to a girl first? Let's say your in the library. Do you go to church? Join a choir? You are sweet looking like Jade said and I don't think your going to bars to find girls. You just have to find a way to be where they are. Swimming club, hiking? Biking. Jade people can let you down, trust me I know. It is up to you now to learn from this. Have fun for now and go out with girlfriends for awhile. Of course there are guys who have no experience either, they may not all wish to advertise this fact. Guys love to bragg and a lot of it is not true. Some just think it is machsho. (How do you spell that lol?) They are still immature and I believe girls are ahead of them is this department.
Jade if this makes you feel any better, right now you can't wait to be 19 and for the reason you stated. I know it seems the time goes soooo slow. All kids can't wait to grow up that is why a three year old will tell you he is not three but three and a half.
Well after your 21 you slowly wished for time to slow down as from that time on, the time seems to go doulble fast. Hang in there Jade the "good times" as you now see it will be here soon enough. Have fun!
