RE: Best european country to migrate!

If you want to work... Germany.

If you're independently wealthy, any other country you want to choose... cause it costs a fortune to live here. dunno

Finally... some acknowledgement and accountability..... maybe

"There are too many "agencies" regulating financial institutions...The system is fragmented, complex, and politicized!...."

Actually there haven't been any agencies regulating the financial institutions. We have the results to prove it! laugh

The FED and it's private bankers who have no interest in this country or it's people, other than their profit line, should be kicked to the curb and we should be printing our own damn money... and not as if it was toilet paper. roll eyes

You've always spouted "My country right or wrong". Well there has been a whole lot of wrong going on... does this mean you're ready to stand up for wanting a fix now? Have stopped using figure heads and parties as the scapegoats? It's the entire system that has gone rotten and it certainly didn't start in this term! confused

Finally... some acknowledgement and accountability..... maybe

Isn't that what I've been saying all along? doh

It's been you guys blaming the liquorice stick, the party, the present... when this has all been steadily spiraling out of control for decades! It's not the government per se that is the problem... but the manipulation and deviation of said government employees from what's best for the nation.
It's broken... and we need to acknowledge that before it will ever be possible to find the myriad fixes necessary to get us back on track from this spoiled brat, palm buttering mentality that has sunk us in this hole we find ourselves in.

Finally... some acknowledgement and accountability..... maybe

Finally... some acknowledgement and accountability..... maybe

That's if your government has a conscience... ours has been sadly lacking one for a quite a bit now. Can't trust them as far as we can throw them these days. uh oh

Finally... some acknowledgement and accountability..... maybe

Do you know what an oil shale operation looks like or what it does to the aquifers? Google that. Then think about what will be left of Wyoming, Colorado and Utah and all the other states attached. roll eyes

It takes 4 times as much water per shale to process, Canada uses 40% of all it's natural gas simply to heat the shale to release the oil. So you call destroying thousands of acres of pristine land, the waste of natural gas and the death of water ways and wild life something to be gleeful about? You wouldn't think so if they were in your neighborhood. Oil shale tailings and used water are toxic. Oil sands only became feasible when gas prices hit all time highs, so count on them staying up there.

10. What is the oil shale upgrade facility?

Shale oil flowing out of above ground operations must be cleaned of contaminants and/or be “upgraded” to make a range of products. Shale oil “cleaning” often involves the removal of sulfur. Shale oil upgrading generally includes additional processing equivalent to crude oil hydrocracking (required to convert oil-shale distillates to gasoline). Upgrading also removes arsenic and nitrogen using hydrotreating.

An upgrade facility could generate over 3,000 metric tons per year of spent catalysts, treatment chemicals, and sludges and byproduct wastes. Upgrade wastes of concern may include (at a 1 million tpd plant) 5400 tons per year of spent hydrotreater guard bed catalyst containing 20 percent arsenic and potentially hazardous API separator bottoms which may generate 7200 tons per year.

Wastes from the upgrade operations are not exempt from hazardous waste requirements, and may (Oh please roll eyes ), in some cases, exhibit a hazardous characteristic. EPA is not addressing or seeking comment on those wastes, which are of much smaller volume relative to the spent oil shale.

And considering that the oil industry will certainly be buying off our elected officials to get the EPA to turn a blind eye on the toxic byproducts issues... and the people and wildlife who live in those areas.

Yep... great solution for the country. idea

Finally... some acknowledgement and accountability..... maybe

One of course could back alternative forms of energy... that oil tit will dry up. So why pauper a country with oil wars or destroy what nature we have left, when we have the technology even now to move beyond fossil fuel? I'll tell you why... the oil industry would lose.

Finally... some acknowledgement and accountability..... maybe

What clique doh? That implies he has one, when what he really has are Handlers. Take it up with them.. your friends the bankers.. you know the ones, the capitalists.. they're just trying to get ahead and make a little profit... any way they can. roll eyes

I heard they're dumping Obama come election time... his shelf life has expired, he did what he was told... but so much for boot licker security.

Finally... some acknowledgement and accountability..... maybe

RE: Finally somebody with the guts to speak up

Just got back from being in the mountains on an internet key and couldn't see the video Ooby. The man is absolutely right on thumbs up ! We are way overdue dealing with the BS we've been fed for far too long. frustrated

Well hang on to those old glory days... they may not be around much longer... you really shouldn't blame Mnowsa for that, we did it to ourselves. roll eyes

It's come down to 'put your money where you mouth is' and China is holding the markers that we gave away (production/fabrication) or borrowed. dunno

We've been piecemeal selling our soul for quite awhile now.

Finally... some acknowledgement and accountability..... maybe

Isn't that the truth.. laugh ?! But at least they're paying public lip service... or they must be getting worried that people might just be totally fed up... nah, nevermind, I'm sure it's a behind the scenes power play. roll eyes

"Feds sue big banks over sales of risky investments.

NEW YORK (AP) — The government on Friday sued 17 financial firms, including the largest U.S. banks, for selling Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac billions of dollars worth of mortgage-backed securities that turned toxic when the housing market collapsed.

Among those targeted by the lawsuits were Bank of America Corp., Citigroup Inc., JP Morgan Chase & Co., and Goldman Sachs Group Inc. Large European banks including The Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays Bank and Credit Suisse were also sued.

The lawsuits were filed by the Federal Housing Finance Agency. It oversees Fannie and Freddie, the two agencies that buy mortgages loans and mortgage securities issued by the lenders."

RE: Is Obama a Socialist

You know Al if the truth hit you in the head with a hammer.. you'd say prove it was a hammer instead of focusing on the issue. laugh

I quoted exactly what the Buddhist website said were the 3 principle practices and trainings of Buddhism... are you saying they are wrong? confused

In your case 'facts' are a simply a filtered perception, if someone gives them you don't consider them or read them... and you seem to bandy about the 'liar' word so easily, one does wonder if you ever look in your own cupboards to check if there are a few of your own misconceptions running around? dunno

If I recall the question was "Is Obama a socialist?"

My take is that maybe once, in a place far far away and long ago he could have been... but today he is owned by the banks, so I guess that makes him 'bought', just as the democratic ideal has been for the benefit and control of a few whose only politic is greed at the expense of most.

What function is a government supposed to have? The welfare of ALL it's citizens... so I guess that makes any government socialist... acknowledge it. But then of course there is OUR government, not yours btw... which has gone heartily twisted and broken... and is oozing happily into a dictatorship by the money holders and lenders.

RE: Is Obama a Socialist

The Three Practices of Buddhism:

These three consist of:

Sila: Virtue, good conduct, morality. This is based on two fundamental principles:

* The principle of equality: that all living entities are equal.

*The principle of reciprocity: This is the "Golden Rule" in
Christianity -- to do onto others as you would wish them to do
onto you
. It is found in all major religions.

Samadhi: Concentration, meditation, mental development. Developing one's mind is the path to wisdom which in turn leads to personal freedom. Mental development also strengthens and controls our mind; this helps us maintain good conduct.

Prajna: Discernment, insight, wisdom, enlightenment. This is the real heart of Buddhism. Wisdom will emerge if your mind is pure and calm.

Seems you do waver often from the path there Al. That 'some' are more equal than others does tend to be a repetitive strand in your rational... a question of discernment from what I understand. confused

RE: Is Obama a Socialist

Whatever Al. roll eyes

Seems reality is pretty relative these days.. based on smoke and mirrors and whose schtick you CHOOSE to believe. Reality, optional.

So if you call an apple an orange long enough.. does it become an orange? Because it doesn't really matter how many facts are thrown your way.. if they don't jive with your agenda... they're expendable.

RE: Is Obama a Socialist

Oh please... roll eyes You mean like you guys saying health care wants to euthanize everyone? rolling on the floor laughing

Don't think so... that's you violent 'little guy' haters, greedily wallowing in your desire to be the wealthy and well armed superior race, gobbling up the planet for fun and profit.

"Let them eat cake."... Right?

I'm just wondering who you're going to get to take away your trash or clean your toilets once you starve, tax and incarcerate all the other 99% of the so called lazy bums?

The system is broken and your sort have the biggest hand in it... own it.

RE: Is Obama a Socialist

Hmmm... I swear I did hit the quote button for kittens1949 mumbling

RE: Is Obama a Socialist

Very well said Kit! They have indeed been using that communist boogie man for too many years to count... that nasty red menace has been used to manipulate Americans with false fears for far too long.

Unfortunately they are culturally sea locked and many haven't had the opportunity to see how others function and often successfully with some consideration for their citizens. roll eyes

RE: Is Obama a Socialist

If Obama is such a Socialist... why are we losing more public services than any other Democratic or Republican president has ever given up since America was conceived? Why does no one talk about fixing.. only axing?

He has folded on EVERY major and most minor issues the republicans have stuck their heals in the ground about simply for the sport of it... blame everything on Obama, while refusing to actually deal with helping the country heal itself. Talk about a sacrificial cow. roll eyes

Why is the Right using Obama as their scapegoat? He is and has always been at the least wishy washy... at the worst, the bankers shill.

Sorry... but I'm having a hard time grasping why the Right keeps blaming the fall of the USA on this particular shill, who has done nothing but aid and abed the supposed conservative (sic) Right for the last 3+ years. confused

So three cheers for the fascist, war mongering, Big Brother, mega capitalist oligarchy... the think tank plan has been working just fine. You gave us this shill and we 'the people' are losing more rights and privileges or even what meager consideration the American people might have expected from their government.. than ever was conceived as the American ideal. You own America and can now destroy it and the world at will.

Congratulations... are you proud? Selfishness and stupidity reigns... the 'agenda' in action. doh

RE: riots in London

cool

RE: Is Obama a Socialist

I'm not defending him Con.... but some are shortsighted on where the spend craziness began... it's like lotto winners gone wild and then discover are broke within 5 years. roll eyes

The roller coaster has to stop somewhere.

RE: Is Obama a Socialist

While he certainly hasn't helped, it certainly didn't start with him.

RE: Teenagers, are they worth it?

Yep I have, 2 boys... didn't sleep for about 6 years there... fortunately they do outgrow it... around 26. laugh

But maintaining a sense of humor is vital (in between the moments you want to strangle them). cool

RE: Please either merge or divide Forum threads and Polls!

Absolutely Dagosto caro.... but the forums, I'm assuming, get even more visibility for advertisers simply because lots of folks take a gander even if they don't participate... no forum posters.. or unhappy ones, nobody to see the advertising. wink wink wine

RE: Please either merge or divide Forum threads and Polls!

Another thing, while the 'to the top' button is nice.. wouldn't it be easier to run a thin direction line along the bottom as well... you know forums, EU forums, polls, mailbox, flowers, blogs etc... then you wouldn't even need to go back to the top. dunno

RE: Please either merge or divide Forum threads and Polls!

In fact I was here to make the same point.... being that we are in a 'change' mode.

Also.... we ARE SCROLLING much too much and why are the reply and quote buttons at the top of a box instead of the bottom as they used to be? Scroll up again and as someone said... yes the EMOs should also be near the bottom... scroll up again... scroll scroll scroll. It is also harder to distinguish between a quote and a response now that you've also inclosed the response in a box

From what I see the changes have mostly been to improve the advertisers visibility, not the users needs. confused

RE: GOP knows that Obama will win a gain in 2012! GOP have gone chicken and knows that the battle is al

I'm assuming the rights' fight for less government has to do with strengthening their profit margins by eliminating the need to bribe congress and buy presidents. roll eyes crazy

RE: Who would you like to see as the United States President in 2013?

I have an off thread question here... how can one person in this thread remain totally invisible.. no name, location or anything, since when did that happen?

I personally don't think that should be allowed. mumbling

RE: IS THIS WHAT OBAMA MENT BY: "CHANGE" ?

Actually I think we should boycott the country and not vote en masse.

Personally, I'm tired of playing with a stacked deck.
