"Ever walk into a room with some purpose in mind, only to completely forget what that purpose was? Turns out, doors themselves are to blame for these strange memory lapses.
Psychologists at the University of Notre Dame have discovered that passing through a doorway triggers what's known as an event boundary in the mind, separating one set of thoughts and memories from the next. Your brain files away the thoughts you had in the previous room and prepares a blank slate for the new locale."
"Next time ask the lady to carry your grocery bags for a change!"
It's easy to see where this is going!
Occasionally, I'll see a woman at the local QFC, and I'll ask her where something is or I'll ask how would they cook whatever I'm holding in my hand at the moment. Hey, we all have our little methods of talking to women. We gotta try something! It's a lot better than the trite old "Do you come to the produce department often?"
Don't abandon who you are. Never let anyone else define your character. Reputation is who people think you are. Character is who you really are.
If I were a betting man, I would make three bets:
1) Unless you live in a very strange area where the women are all similar, I think this was an isolated incident.
2) She was already frustrated with her toddler, before you even entered the picture.
3) I'm willing to bet that this was a younger women who was raised on feminist principles. There are still some like the woman you encountered in the world. At the height of the women's movement in the 80's, women would get furious if a guy held the door open for them. Thank goodness, that's changed, and most women thank me when I hold a door open for them.
I have Skype, but the login is under my ex's login name because she's the one that put Skype on my computer. I don't know her login name and password, nor do I have a microphone or earphone, let alone a cam. And, the way the cats crawl all over the computer, it would be a miracle if I could keep the equipment working even one day. Walking on the keyboard, shutting off the computer, ordering pizza and other things on the computer, sitting on the keyboard, bringing up weird things on the computer, turning off parts of the anti-virus programs - you name it, the cats have literally done it all. These cats must be rocket scientists!
I like songs where I can understand the words. One reason I dislike rock so much is because the "music" is do loud I can't hear the words. How the kids are able to pick out the words is beyond me.
I make a distinction between judgment and perception. We have no right to judge anyone, but we do need to be perceptive. As a general rule, women are much more perceptive than men are. For example, in relationships women are able to sense something wrong long before the end of a relationship. Men will get to a divorce situation and say, "Huh? I thought we were so happy. What do you mean, divorce?
My perceptive skills are enormously accurate, and I rely on them constantly. Whenever I've ignored my intuition, something really bad has happened.
Some philanthropists may do giving in a way that gets them recognition, just like the Pharisees in the Bible. However, most philanthopists quietly go about their charity business, with little or no fanfare. If I won the lottery, for example, I would anonymously donate to charity. No one would ever know where the money came from.
The people in my conservative Baptis church are very giving people. Some donate at the local food bank, while others find many additional ways of giving to the local community. We even have Thursday church every week, where we invite disabled people and people of less fortunate means to come in and have a very nice meal, with free transportation provided.
A chaplain, who happened to be assigned to the Pentagon, told of an incident that happened right after Flight 77 hit the Pentagon on 9/11. A daycare facility inside the Pentagon had many children, including infants who were in heavy cribs. The daycare supervisor, looking at all the children they needed to evacuate, was in a panic over what they could do. There were many children, mostly toddlers, as well as the infants that would need to be taken out with the cribs. There was no time to try to bundle them into carriers and strollers.
Just then a young Marine came running into the center and asked what they needed. After hearing what the center director was trying to do, he ran back out into the hallway and disappeared. The director thought, "Well, here we are, on our own."
About 2 minutes later, that Marine returned with 40 other Marines in tow. Each of them grabbed a crib with a child, and the rest started gathering up toddlers. The director and her staff then helped them take all the children out of the center and down toward the park near the Potomac and the Pentagon.
Once they got about 3/4 of a mile outside the building, the Marines stopped in the park, and then did a fabulous thing - they formed a circle with the cribs, which were quite sturdy and heavy, like the covered wagons in the Old West. Inside this circle of cribs, they put the toddlers, to keep them from wandering off. Outside this circle were the 40 Marines, forming a perimeter around the children and waiting for instructions. There they remained until the parents could be notified and come get their children.
The chaplain then said, "I don't think any of us saw nor heard of this on any of the news stories of the day. It was an incredible story of our men there. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. The thought of those Marines and what they did and how fast they reacted; could we expect any less from them? It was one of the most touching stories from the Pentagon.
It's the Military, not the politicians that ensures our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It's the Military who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag. AMEN TO THAT!
We have what we call "the Seattle Sound." It's a unique style of music that comes out of Seattle from the many musicians we have here in the Seattle area.
Aw, we don't get rain all the time up here. In fact we had 2 1/2 months of solid sunshine, clear into October. Here's a song about Seattle. With your intelligence and perseverance, I'm sure you could find a great position up here.
The UK has decided to help this young lady, so I think they will treat her in England until she is fully recovered. Let's hope the Taliban will not find her in England.
You could measure the heart by the Centigrade to Fahrenhite conversion, 9/5+32. and the brain conversion would be F to C, 5/9-32. Ah, the heart is then bigger than the brain.
I've been on plenty of other sites who had a notification system that was much better than the CS system. On those sites, when I would go to a particular blog, the system would start me out at the last post I read, so I didn't have to go through a bunch of pages I'd already read. CS has no such system, so I get discouraged looking at threads that have many pages. I have a terrible memory, and I can't remember how many pages I've read in any given thread. Is it possible to change the system so that only the unread posts show up, with the option to look at the rest of the thread if need be? It would be so much nicer. Also, the other sites notified me when new posts were posted.
