I have read the road less traveled. I also have read other scott pecks books though right now I cannot remember the titles. He is a very good writer. I enjoyed the books. Hope you enjoyed it also. 
But putting that all to the side I am glad to see you posting. You are truly one of the nicest people on here. And an inspiration for all that is looking that it can happen.

Some people do not place the value others do on a material object. No matter how much they enjoy it if they see someone who really needs it more they will give it to them. Why? Because it makes them feel good to help some one else. 
I have always been able to get by in life, and yes I have missed some things I gave away. But it was just stuff and I can always work and make more money and get more. And if I can't well I will just have to learn to get by without. And actually people in cold areas do use fridges. Don't want to give your food frost bite or ruin something that should not be kept that cold. Also power sources will help them run. I own a generator for when the storms hit here. I know I have went on and on when I could of just said the feeling it gives one to be able to give something from the heart is reason enough to give. It is easy for a rich man to give. But when one gives something that is needed by them then it is truely a gift.

to think that these are the type of people one could go to when in trouble and they would lend a hand is amusing unless you know them personally. I have found never to judge a book by its cover. Sometimes not even by the pages. Life is full of surprises. Do I miss the 50's and 60's well hell yea. I remember hearing the noon time whistle in town and within ten minutes every ones dads would be pulling in their drives for lunch. Not my dad though. He worked out of town But it was a more quieter time.
Am not sure but don't think I would do it again. I take responsiability and people very serious. And when it did not work out I felt really bad. He was a great man. Really nice. Not bad looking. It was personality differences that was our problem. I thought I had covered every area in life before he came over here. Hindsight now I know you cannot cover everything on line some things need to be covered in person. I have heard of many success stories. So if you think it is something that you might be open for then try and see. I think we both had a good time while he was here. There was just not the connection we were hopeing for. 
We remain friends and that is one thing you cannot have to many of.
My town is a sprawling town. So it is nice to have a vehichle. But most everywhere I want to go is close by. So I have an eight year old car with less than 40,000 miles on it. Quite an accomplishment over here. But sadly one day my car was not feeling good. So my daughter followed me to the local garage. And to my horror and emabarrassment he told me right in front of my daughter that the problem with my car was I did not drive it enough 
That if I could not find somewhere to go then crank it up and let it run twenty minutes a couple of times a week in my drive. Has he never heard of carbon monoxide poisen?? So long story to say I know what you mean about people thinking cars are really important. It is so bad in my area that I really was ashamed that day and did not want to look at my daughter or the mechanic. Young whipper snapper

Cooking is an art form. It is like beauty it depends on a persons taste buds. I just wanted to say on your header of your profile you say you like diversity. And with that being the case you would love America. We have women from all over the world here. Each bringing to our country their own style. So I think that would be why you have seen and heard that about the U.S. We are a diverse country. Bringing beauty, style and grace from all over the world. So I do thank you for your kind words

Every now and then I think to myself "look someone has thrown away a perfectly good grandmother" I miss my mum and grandma. The best place for my mum was with me.
