A good friend of mine recently was surprised by her husband booking her a fabulous week doing a cooking course with in a small village near Florence! They both loved it and met so many interesting people. The more I hear the more I want to go!!!

Funnily enough, Venice is the main reason I would like to go.... For some reason, since I was a little girl I wanted to visit (maybe a past life??)! Then, after reading "The Agony and the Ecstasy" about Michelangelo, I decided I needed to see Rome and Florence too. I think I will fall in love with the whole country. I'm going to buy some Italian language CDs to start preparing myself!

I have 3 dogs whom I love and adore and a cat whom I must confess I'm not crazy about! I also have 2 teddy hamsters who are supposed to be my sons but who I've ended up having to take care of! Quite a menagerie....

Hey everyone, I just wanted to let you all know that it is going really really well for me with my Scotsman, whom I met on a local dating site about 2 months ago! You may have noticed that I haven't been on here much lately... Well life has been pretty hectic and I haven't had all that much time, but I will stay on here and participate in the forums from time to time coz I like you crazy people...

I don't know if I HAVE hit the dating jackpot, but wow, I am so enjoying getting to know this man! I wanted to tell you so you know why I haven't been around much and also to give you hope... I've been divorced for nearly 3 years and did a whole lot of dating in my first year post-divorce - kissed a lot of frogs! I then became disillusioned and had two years pretty much on my own with the odd foray into a local dating site where I seemed to meet totally unsuitable men! I've been on CS since about June, but I think pretty much most of the men I liked were thousands of kms from me, so the chances of anything developing were fairly small...

Then at the end of Oct I thought I'd give a local dating site one last chance and BOB'S YOUR AUNTIE! Is this what you call serendipity, or is it just the universe finally conspiring to realise my dream because I am finally ready? All I know is that he is very different to my usual "type" and even though I liked him, I wasn't sure whether there was any chemistry happening. He is the quintessential "nice guy" (and he's funny, big and cuddly too)!!! It has been a gradual process over the last 2 months but the ZING definitely happened and is very much there. So, put those stereotypes aside gals (and guys) and get out there and make it happen!

That's interesting! Is all this weird weather due to climate change? Soon, we'll have to go to the northern hemisphere for sunshine and we'll be negotiating icebergs in our little kayaks and have people booking ski holidays here and in Australia!

Yes but not the best time to come to SA right now. We are having serious rain everywhere! Jeez, if not drought, downpours...

I found Bali very interesting during my trip last year... Lots to see and do... and it should be pretty cheap. Have you looked into going on a Caribbean cruise? I did that years ago with Carnival Cruise Lines and it was fabulous! We flew into San Juan, Puerto Rico and sailed from there to St Tomas, St Maarten, Barbados and Martinique. Otherwise, have always thought a cruise to Alaska would be fascinating.... Had friends who did that...

True! If we don't learn from our mistakes, it is our own fault.

I learnt that I would be really miserable if I lived in a really rainy country! It has been raining steadily for days now and I am beginning to feel as grey and miserable as the weather! Plus my one doggie REFUSES to go outside and do her biz in the rain. I am going to have to buy her a hat umbrella, raincoat and wellie boots!!! But things are looking up... Having the girls over for supper tonight! Yeeha!

Yup, I'd agree! Reminds me of the Ozzie guy who after a coupla chats via email then on Skype suddenly started talking about coming over here for a holiday (to stay with me) THEN what freaked me out even more, was looking at SA companies he could apply to for a job! Last straw was when he was upset because I wasn't online when I said I would be and he knew I'd been up until the wee hours the night before "flirting" on here!!! Eeeeek - that was enough for me to head for the hills.....
