Yes thanks for sharing! Our money definitely seemed to go a lot further! Not sure if you guys made your own go-karts out of wood with old pram wheels and a piece of rope to hold onto - no brakes at all? We used to whizz down the roads holding on for dear life. Usually came to a stop by crashing into a bush or something! We often came home with tired and happy with cuts and bruises.... It was par for the course....
Wow!!!! I am absolutely gobsmacked! She is totally and utterly amazing... In terms of natural talent, I think she should've won but I agree with you that she has a lot of a time ahead of her and after this, no doubt she has many offers already!!!
Quite amazing! I had a friend who kept getting recurrent bronchitis which eventually turned into pneumonia. When they checked her lungs they were black! The doctor asked her how much she smoked and she had NEVER smoked a cigarette in her life. It was all from breathing in second hand smoke from her chain smoking parents!!!!!
Hmmmm not so here! But we all had big dogs to scare em off despite having very low, easily scaled fences or walls. Nowadays, sadly most of us have big walled properties with electric fencing, heavily alarmed, etc.
Exactly! I don't think you can lump a whole nation together and say they're boring. Every country has its' bores! Anyway, apparently they are extremely beautiful! Perhaps you are targeting the wrong age group??
Yes, Afridi is fantastic. We have seen him playing at the Wanderers cricket stadium not far from us! He seems to be quite a character too! Thanks, we do have some good cricketers playing at the moment, like Graeme Smith, AB de Villiers, Dale Steyn, Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis.
No, as long as he isn't really unhealthy! A bit of podge is fine - I mean at my age I am hardly perfect so how could I expect him to be. Ripped is really more suited to younger guys and although I admire their dedication, the huge body builder type body is definitely not for me... Just a normal, average body is absodoodly wonderful. It is what is between his ears that matters the most anyway!!!! I can excuse a lot of things if he keeps me giggling.....
No I haven't but wow, you have some great cricketers!!! My boys are big fans of Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif. We're looking forward to the Pakistan vs South Africa cricket series in UAE in Oct/Nov this year.....
Very true Rohaan! Actually we have a huge crater caused by a meteorite that hit the earth hundreds of years ago in the Cradle of Humankind not that far from here....
Yes indeed even dancing our way through life! Think our immune systems were given such a good workout they learnt how to fight off just about anything!
Perhaps it will help lower the climbing obesity rate if it is both taxed heavily and has lots of health warnings?!!! Ditto all fast foods like MacDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, etc. Before you microwave your next meal (not great to do for starters coz you lose a lot of the nutrients in food) check out the labels. Just as quick and healthier to make a sandwich or even toast a slice of bread and smear it with peanut butter & honey!!!
Yes, same with us! Such busy little bees outside all day, using our imagination - no TV at all til I was a teenager and then limited to an hour or two of each language!
Hmmm. Quite honestly, I don't actually like the idea of dying alone. I hope I will be an old old lady and will have my two beautiful boys/men preferably holding my hands! I don't like the idea of a car accident or heart attack where I might be in pain or suffering not only for me but because it would play on the minds of my loved ones. A bloody great meteorite that kills us all in an instant would not be a bad way to go in my book! I'm not sure about life after death - I guess I'll only know for sure once I'm gone!
Yes. Well I think that is a lot more commendable than someone who is born with a silver spoon in his mouth and who doesn't value or appreciate what he has OR try to leave his own footprint in the world!
Well here we are in the Southern Hemisphere, and my boys are totally soccer (football) mad (as is their mum)!!! One supports Liverpool.... and the other supports Real Madrid.... Keeps life interesting!
A lot of you may have read this poem, but I just received it again today in an email and read it once more. It is so beautiful, I thought it was worth sharing!
After A While by Veronica Shoftsall
After a while you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul.
And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company doesn't mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises.
And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes ahead, with the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child.
And you learn to build all your roads on today because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans, and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul, instead of waiting for someone to leave you flowers.
And you learn that you really can endure; you really are strong, you really do have worth.
And you learn, and you learn With every goodbye you learn.
Hey Merriweather..... I know. Isn't it sad that the advent of technology has contributed to the decline in social skills and most importantly FREEDOM for our children. Sadly, even though I try to get that point across to kids in the workshops I do, I think there's no going back!
sitting on the toilet seat in the morning to discover that your son/s have left wee on the seat (do they EVER learn to put the seat up)!!! - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh
standing in dog crap and only realising when you've got in the car and smeared it all over your carpet - aaaaaaaaaaaaargh
having to dash off to school because your son has forgotten his sports stuff and has a match after school - aaaaaaaaaaaaaargh
meeting someone you think sounds really nice only to discover he is substantially older, shorter and wider than his picture indicated - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh
Hmmmm. I'm not sure it has anything to do with looks, although there is some talk about exquisitely gorgeous men (and women) preferring to choose someone not as attractive so they don't have to compete! I guess Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie and countless other couples prove THAT one wrong.
Personally, I think it is more to do with one's self esteem. If you are comfortable with who you are and like yourself, you are less likely to choose a needy partner to "complete" you and you won't be intimidated by your partner being more attractive, more intelligent, or more successful than you are.
The good ole days??!!!
