I know I will find something, but I am getting nervous about my age these days, in as much as I am now 54 and although I have another 14 years at least in the working world, I feel sure it may go against me in certain work places. Time to take my age off my CV too now I think, at least it may give me a better chance to reach an interview.
Absolutely, I couldn't agree more and I do very well usually at interviews.
The trouble is they base their list of interviewees on the covering letter and CV you send, so that is your first point of contact with a prospective employer and it has to be a good sell.
Unfortunately I'm skilled in accounts, not selling. So that is why I am taking my time about this introduction. One of the jobs I am after is particularly interesting to me, with a certain amount of diversity and growth involved.
Yes thanks that's an excellent letter, I have got as far as:-
'Dear Madam
I am writing to introduce myself, also enclosing my CV for your consideration for the post advertised (insert, position, date of publication and which publication)
As you will see from my CV, I have the relevant skills that you require.
If there are any areas that you need clarification on, or I can answer any questions, then I may be contacted on ......
Thank you, I like that very much, I have got as far as:-
Dear Sir/Madam,
Ref: Application for Accounts Assistant
I would welcome an interview to discuss your requirements for the above job and my suitability for the position. Also to show you the glowing reference from my last Employer who had to make me redundant.
I enclose my c.v. for your consideration and look forward to (hopefully) hearing from you.
Qualified as in experienced up to trial balance double entry bookeeping when we ran a business years ago. Just got made redundant from a sales ledger job I really enjoyed.
RE: Being Popular
Yeah and I can't work out the colours for text here, and totally messed up the post!
So what's new..........
