MILKY WAY

The Dream
this poem is about conflicting feelings of rejection, depression and turmoil in the face of disappointing setbacks but hopeful optimistic vision of the future and celebration of inert gifts and abilities that result in success. it was penned in 30 minutes and it was my first time writing a poem. i felt emotionally set back while writing and wrote in tears, literally.

I went through some very hard times. I wound up with a lot of time on my hands when I wrote this and had so much frustration inside me. Everything seemed bleak and for the longest time I fought for my life and my chance at normalcy. I was staring at grey walls and all I could picture was the sky and where I truly wanted to be in my life. My escapism did not last because my thoughts simply kept leading me back to reality. However, I knew that I would have a chance to redeem myself and build a better reality, and here I am.
