Finding Hope and Happiness

I hope you had a fantastic weekend and prepared to have a great week. I often encourage you to access where you are in life and determine what you are doing presently, will it allow you to be where you desire to be tomorrow. Lets put it another way, "if we are having this conversation five years from now, what would have change to place you where you desire to be. Today is the day to think about what you can do to embrace life and follow your dream

Life is a miracle don't let it slip away,
Open your heart to others give of yourself each day
See the beauty in everyone regardless of where they've been
Some have a difficult journey and really need a friend
Share your gifts and talents listen with your heart
Do the things you dream about but don't have time to start
Pick a bouquet of flowers show someone that you care
Be gracious and forgiving because life is never fair
Hold on to your courage you may need it down the road
We all have a cross to bear and this could be your heavy load
If you practice all these things no matter where you roam
You may find both sunshine and rain but you'll never grow old

Live

Long ago I set out to find
An amorous yearning in my mind;
Thinking love would hurriedly appear without flaw
The sum of all the beauty in life I saw

Down many roads I traveled long
Through dark nights and days anew,
Over hills and mountains and open fields,
Past many yesterdays and tomorrows too.....
Today is the day given and today I shall live..

Highway 109

A drunk man in an Oldsmobile

They said had run the light

That caused the six-car pileup

On 109 that night.

When broken bodies lay about

And blood was everywhere,

The sirens screamed out eulogies,

For death was in the air.

A mother, trapped inside her car,

Was heard above the noise;

Her plaintive plea near split the air:

Oh, God, please spare my boys!

She fought to loose her pinned hands;

She struggled to get free,

But mangled metal held her fast

In grim captivity.

Her frightened eyes then focused

On where the back seat once had been,

But all she saw was broken glass and

Two children's seats crushed in.

Her twins were nowhere to be seen;

She did not hear them cry,

And then she prayed they'd been thrown free,

Oh, God, don't let them die!

Then firemen came and cut her loose,

But when they searched the back,

They found therein no little boys,

But the seat belts were intact.

They thought the woman had gone mad

And was traveling alone,

But when they turned to question her,

They discovered she was gone.

Policemen saw her running wild

And screaming above the noise

In beseeching supplication,

Please help me find my boys!

They're four years old and wear blue shirts;

Their jeans are blue to match.

One cop spoke up, They're in my car,

And they don't have a scratch.

They said their daddy put them there

And gave them each a cone,

Then told them both to wait for Mom

To come and take them home.

I've searched the area high and low,

But I can't find their dad.

He must have fled the scene,

I guess, and that is very bad.

The mother hugged the twins and said,

While wiping at a tear,

He could not flee the scene, you see,

For he's been dead a year.

The cop just looked confused and asked,

Now, how can that be true?

The boys said, Mommy, Daddy came

And left a kiss for you.

He told us not to worry

And that you would be all right,

And then he put us in this car with

The pretty, flashing light.

We wanted him to stay with us,

Because we miss him so,

But Mommy, he just hugged us tight

And said he had to go.

He said someday we'd understand

And told us not to fuss,

And he said to tell you, Mommy,

He's watching over us.

The mother knew without a doubt

That what they spoke was true,

For she recalled their dad's last words,

I will watch over you.

The firemen's notes could not explain

The twisted, mangled car,

And how the three of them escaped

Without a single scar.

But on the cop's report was scribed,

In print so very fine,

An angel walked the beat tonight on Highway 109.

Poetry To Me

Poetry is a elegant dove in turbulent times it's highly
Elaborate elegant effortlessly
More powerful than water and electricity
Poetry tap dances with a pen or pencil so naturally
Never rough like a beard it's softly
Out the mind and soul with wisdom and purity
Always will it be exceptionally
Made good because of liberty
Poetry can move swiftly
But is usually
Calm as a bay on a sunny day its destiny
Is to bring to us a story
Poetry unexpectedly
Has its own sensuality
And occasionally
Poetry finds its own company
Pleasing the words are a melody
That is extremely
Beautiful and heavenly
Obviously
Poetry is a luxury
And shall be completely
In our hearts for all eternity
In our hearts for all eternity
To me this is poetry

proximity

where'd you go? standing there i saw you a minute ago, my words, my expression my fateful confession, wasn't so bad, past bad times i've had, now i know why you're mad, i'm doin my best please don't contest, it's a road you've not walked, an one yes i've talked, see it my way, in hopes then you'll stay, it's not meant to be mean, it's all that i've seen, teach me away, then maybe you'll stay, i'm alone in this thought with something forgot, yet it's not a forgot, it's a think i've not thought!

soul-ittude

when i write there's a peace within that comes forth, hard to describe exactly, it feels soft yet groomed, caring yet strong, thought filled incite, tangently directional, astray then found, challenged heights attained, a connection of thought to pen to paper. Often flowed only when the time is such.........

On Poetry

On Poetry

To find the words that remain unspoken
and bring together a chain of thoughts unbroken
I search the deepest parts of my mind
as I try to create a poem of a different kind!
But what is it in that corner I see?
Is it madness, or a reflection of me?

Touched by an Angel

We, unaccustomed to courage
exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of love's light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.
