Can't you at least plan and priority would be to take care on how to manage eating good food?
I know some people who's metabolism change after many years of smoking and then quit. It probably has something to do with the fact that when you don't smoke then the body compensate on having something to digest? I am not sure but perhaps there is a way to compensate without causing distress to the body chemicals that has been addicted by the nicotin?
I hope you will find a way to make the adjustments.
