Kombucha Cherry & Black Currant

I finally found the Kombucha I have been wanting to try. The taste startled me a little bit, not sure I would buy it again unless I found out if it is very healthy for some reason. I looked at the ingredients and almost didn't buy it because the second ingredient is cane sugar, however all the rest were ok.

Since it is a spendy item, I wondered if I could make it but I would need Kombucha Yeast and Bacteria cultures, both of which I am NOT familiar with and not sure I want to do more research. I've had myself buried in research trying to figure things out.

So the jury is still out.

Hi Fay wave

The ‘Buy Nothing’ group that I’ve joined have members offering free scoby every other week, for those who wanna try doing their very own Kombucha.

Maybe you should try scouting for free scoby on your local group? Try typing ‘Kombucha ( followed by your area )’ on your FB ? You might discover something interesting wink
Oh back to the research Mimi, now I have to figure out what scoby is. Thanks. smitten

Anyone know the health benefits if any?
Don't know if the 2 are related but In South Africa buchu has been used as a folk remedy or 'boereraat' for centuries.
I know the herb 'Buchu' here in SA.
Buchu was first exported to Britain in the eighteenth century. In Europe it was called “nobles’ tea” because only the wealthy could afford it. There were eight bales of buchu on board the Titanic
dunno
A SCOBY is a syntrophic mixed culture of yeast and bacteria used in production of several traditional foods and beverages
Thank you OB. I'm very unfamiliar with those ingedients. So much to learn.

So far I have made yogurt and tried making cheese. I need to practice more.
