I'm a conservative...

It shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone. I grew up in a conservative household. Toothpaste? Yeah, we pulled the tube against the edge of a desk to squeeze out every bit. I remember once (or twice) having to completely flatten it for a family member!
It wasn't that we didn't have another tube to open, conservatism was our lifestyle.
Getting ready to go out and the a/c was turned off way before we made it to the front door.

My mom used to walk around and see if a light was on... someone had better be using it.

Food in my house didn't go to waste. Salad dressing... much the same. If a few teaspoonfuls were left at the bottom of your bowl... you were wasting it.

My dad had a pretty good memory too. He could tell you what he had for dinner on the first Monday in September 1967... Sunday's leftovers!

Conservative... I am.

I call it I am a frugal lady peace peace I do all of that it was in my upbringing too laugh
The problem with this is new money. Rare are those who moderate their own appetite in an age of plenty coming from a background of poverty. New money is prone to temptation driven by a lifelong hunger developed in childhood that doesn’t go away just because you’re now really fat.
Yep, Chat, my background as well. But sadly, while we took it a bit too seriously, our kids seem to be spinning it in completely different directions. Many millennials talk of being kind to the Earth, but do their share of wasteful living, it would seem.
Hi Chat
I have been raised in a family who believe that those who are wasteful are brothers of the devils.
Ultra conservative... laugh
ultra frugal rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
Gone are the day's where the toothpaste tube was some kind of metal so that as you rolled up the end it stayed. Now with the plastic they just spring back leaving more in there. Oh well, I spend $1 on a tube from dollar tree and don't spend a lot of time & effort getting every last drop. If I did it would take away to much of my Liberal bashing time. cool
use a peg to keep it rolled up, and of course invest in a little gadget that curls around bottom of tube and even squeezes for you rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
I have never been a waster.
I only have light on in the room I'm in, have practically no food waste, etc. What l do have either goes to the wormery, birds or dogs, zero to landfill.
I still would find it hard to describe myself as a conservative though giggle
I do admire the concept of conservation as a lifestyle, minimalism , and the idea protecting the earth as best we can.
this sounds desperate I just waste loads lights on everywhere lived long enough with nothing when young when toothpaste was none not even a tooth brush so now its all easy got so enjoy it
I try not to have much waste and I used to recycle but not so much lately. I waste no food because if I don't eat it then I give it back to the earth.
I'm sure metal tubes of yesteryear had toxins in them.

jb, I'd be wary of toothpaste from Dollar Tree, especially if it's off-brand. Who knows what personality altering chemicals could be in the formula!
I agree with being wary of some of the stuff at discount places like dollar tree. But they do sell a lot of major brand stuff including toothpaste. cheers
