If you've seen any old mobster movies (especially centered in New York City) you may have heard the idiom "Up the River" that was reference to someone sentenced to do time in prison.The Hudson River runs north from New York city all the way through the state to just a few hundred miles from Montreal, Canada.
Roughly 50 miles north of Manhattan on the east coast of the Hudson, is a city named Ossining. It's there you will find Sing Sing Correctional Facility... Maximum-security prison.
