UK into lockdown. Again.

“On hearing ill rumour that Londoners may soon be urged into their lodgings by Her Majesty’s men, I looked upon the street to see a gaggle of striplings making fair merry, and no doubt spreading the plague well about. Not a care had these rogues for the health of their elders!”

Keep careful diaries, everyone. Some blogger in 2420 could be quoting you laugh

Perhaps London's solution is the same today as was back then, burn it to the ground and start again wow
Well viv in my life I see history repeat itself just a wee bit different but non the less the same.

Me I am trying my best to buck the trend beer

stay safe Spain is not good just now. hug teddybear
Jim that's always been one of my favourite songs I like the way it builds up laugh thanks for the link
Lou, you are? wow Now just imagine the comments on this blog were to make it into the annals of history roll eyes you will need to supply context.
Z, burn it to the ground and start over is probably phase 2 of this global process
Red, everything changes and nothing changes. I cannot find a cartoon I saw some years back of cavemen sitting round a fire and one complaining 'I can remember the days when we could just go out without rolling a rock across the cave door"

You stay safe too - and remember when you read the news that there will be a lot of 'look how bad things are elsewhere' stories. We are okay here, right now. My post even just arrived, although Postie Patricia handed it over at extreme arms length and retreated hastily laugh

My diary entry for the day: we have learned that Spain has 650K instant test kits and more on order from China and South Korea. Like pregnancy tests (but fortunately on cheek swabs) they are colour coded to give a reading and Spain's intention is to test everyone.

I can't help but wonder how this will affect the first time I am stopped on the way to the shops, if I test positive. Will I be allowed to continue in my dust-mask and a pair of disintegrating disposable surgical gloves?

Note to self - disposable is something of a misnomer. The box of gloves has been open for 2 years. The gloves are discoloured, and tend to split unless donned with extreme care, but in 2 years have failed to turn to fairy dust.
Disposable means you can just throw them away.
They are far from being biodegradable unfortunately blues

And yes, I would say you'd be stopped from continuing your trips to the shops as you could infect other people if you are infectious. But the results aren't instantaneous. Depending on resources, they can take anything from a few hours to a week.

But 650k testing kits won't do the full population of Spain either way, so they will be used on people experiencing symptoms.
Molly, you didn't read V's comment properly, results from the tests are available in a few minutes and more are on order.
In minutes?? I did miss that part.
They must be a new version.
We are still on the wait and see variety.
doh

My blog definitely needs to be deleted. At least the comments. laugh
Sorry Molly my bad I always forget to add an irony emoji to my comments. Yes I'm quite vocal about the fact that disposable doesn't mean disposable, that was but another dig.

Z has sorted the other issues tip hat the test kits will be as quick as pregnancy tests, fortunately one won't have to squat at the side of the road under the eyes of the policia to provide a sample wow they are cheek swabs and will in a few minutes turn to a color which either allows you on your way or turns you home. Ireland probably has them on order as well, we didn't know we were getting them until the first batch arrived.
I'd be happy if they were available.
I know a person waiting a full week for a test.
At least if they have to wait another week, their 14 day term will be up anyway laugh
Usha your blogs are always worth reading, some of the comments you get are so off topic I half-expect smears on my screen. uh oh

laugh
Molly we've been so short of tests that many doctors have been treating on symptoms. If those patients are included in our count, well and good otherwise we could see an utterly terrifying spike help
Fargo, they're a great record of life at the time but is it me, does he come across as an opinionated pompous rather conceited man? I wonder how he'd fare as a CS blogger ... rolling on the floor laughing

He did love his Parmesan cheese. grin
