Safe mode
My desktop computer goes through phases of hanging or buffering for literally minutes on end, but not all the time. It starts, usually, about 10 minutes after I boot up, and lasts up to an hour - lately it has started doing it around 8 pm for, again, up to an hour. It is a Windows 7 so I don't think it is hidden updates.I did find when I switched to Safe mode that it absolutely flies, all the time. Anyone else experienced anything like this, any suggestions? Safe mode is great but obviously limited - no watching online videos, for example, otherwise I'd just stay in it all the time.

I have a full install of Microsoft Office 2000 Premium, that is fully patched with its correct SP1, SP2, SP3 and SP4, which places the Office suite in a Netframwork like webpages so that it cannot easily be damaged.
I switched Windows Update off a long long time ago, long before Bill Thief Gates forced Windows Eight on folks computers, long long long time before he forced the install of Windows Nine then Windows 10.
Yes i miss out on Cloud and other newer offerings. I have computer protected by a couple of antivirus programs, and weekly run the two clean programs mentioned above.
Paid AU$5000. 00 for my first Windows 95 computer and the terms and conditions clearly required the thief fix faults in Microsoft / Windows. He didn't fix anything rather he forced updates that claimed the thief owned your computer and has engaged in his thievery ever since that time....
Oh and I noticed I am going a bit stir-crazy but hey. I'll get used to it.
Yeah I've been keeping an eye on it as well
Lovecanbereal, yes, agreed! and Merc, how on earth did you override??? I have set my laptop so it is supposed to update when I log out, not when I log in. It is also not supposed to do any updates before 4 in the afternoon, when I have finished working for the day. As far as I know, I have set every setting I can re updates and yet - switch on, and the little twirly thing starts to circle and orders me not to switch off until it has strutted its stuff. As a result I hardly ever use it anymore and resent it very much when I do. I remember when computers were designed to meet our needs, not the other way round.
Who "owns" exactly "what" on the internet, these days?
