Why war exists

History tells us in grim details about wars.

It's brutal, vicious and costly. So why do we, humans keep going into this deadly and menacing venture?

Is it because it's easier to kill each other than building peace?

Ah but then, without war, how can these deadly weapons be used?

How can population be in check?

How can the powerful acquire new territories?

Note: this blog isn't about politics, it's simply an analysis as to why war had been in existence for as long as humanity has.

Propaganda or not, war is real.

I was born in the Philippines. I read through our history that there's about 82 dialects spoken by 82 different tribes. Each tribe were always at war against each other. Killing by any means, machete, bow and arrow, etc were the most used ways of killing then. Guns were introduced by the Spaniards and it was so much easier and faster.

I ask myself, why? I mean, why is that? Killing is a sport then? Those days, I'm sure there were no political leaders that decide when to start a war.

Anyways just bored and maybe there a good discussion from this question. sad flower
Can't be sure of that.
I think it's profitabl. At least to the big corporations...dunno
Because our survival instinct is bred in us ever since we existed.

We had to fight for food, for our land, to protect ourselves.

Then many wars were for religion, because we didn't agree with each other.

And now it's all about power and money.

We haven't really evolved since the cavemen, have we? sigh
Why war exists?

GREED MONEY AND POWER
It's been that way since the beginning of time.
I forgot to add and men like Biden.
Mic keep them coming...teddybear
Nope. In fact we have become more barbaric. Bioweapon?

Thanks dear lady of reason. bouquet
Absolutely Luke. sad flower
Now there is some kind of an answer that can be debated upon Luke.

I just wanted to know what's his motivation on this one.

sigh
I remember Walter Conchrite speech.

"We spending so much time building tools for destruction than peace"

peace
Hmmmmmn it looks like there's a light at the end of the tunnel???dancing
Let's focus on the now. What's to be gained?sad flower
Now nuclear weapons are a bit like the bear in the bushes a reason to know we could all die. To some degree it restores bear-fearing timidity. But more than this you've got to get people out of the cities, repopulate the countryside, suburbs and small towns like white flighting but not just white folks.
I can see my response to you ends up in here isn't it.

I think like we're still the same animals driven by fear and its just got more complicated than from our cavemen existence. wow
dunno cheers
If men want to oppose war, it is statism that they must oppose. So long as they hold the tribal notion that the individual is sacrificial fodder for the collective, that some men have the right to rule others by force, and that some (any) alleged “good” can justify it—there can be no peace within a nation and no peace among nations.

Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal

“The Roots of War,”

"Laissez-faire capitalism is the only social system based on the recognition of individual rights and, therefore, the only system that bans force from social relationships. By the nature of its basic principles and interests, it is the only system fundamentally opposed to war.

Men who are free to produce, have no incentive to loot; they have nothing to gain from war and a great deal to lose. Ideologically, the principle of individual rights does not permit a man to seek his own livelihood at the point of a gun, inside or outside his country. Economically, wars cost money; in a free economy, where wealth is privately owned, the costs of war come out of the income of private citizens—there is no overblown public treasury to hide that fact—and a citizen cannot hope to recoup his own financial losses (such as taxes or business dislocations or property destruction) by winning the war. Thus his own economic interests are on the side of peace."

Still reading the whole thing Cwave

Thank you for sharing all these valuable information.

John Galt comes to mind.

We should all read and uphold his principles. teddybear
Very true, and the sad part of above is that if one is born into that 'statism' its difficult to change. That includes me!
Given with force and a straightforward goal Luke can help us untangled by this system. Not easy but we can. wave
The most brutal conflicts that has been causing this venture is religious conflicts.

Yes, we're hardwired to fight because of different beliefs. sad flower
Yes indeed, religious wars are very brutal.
Then again some say Zelensky is a puppet and shouldn't hand Ukraine to NATO.

What the heck is that about?
Why would Zelensky hand out Ukraine to NATO.

What is NATO doing close to Russian borders?

How about Mexican president hand out Mexico to Russia?

Would US be OK with that?

Let's bring Chinese troops to Canada , you are fine with it?
Ana, I don't see the similarities of Mexico being an ally to Russia. Personally I don't think US would mind Maybe, it will be better then because the border will take priority in protecting us by moving on with Trump's decision of fortifying it.

Nor can I see how Chinese troops marching to Canada has any relevance to our interests. Remember US has bo plans on expansion nor be leary about clandestine activities.

If anything why would Canada let Chinese come in the first place?

I see your point though. What you didn't factor is the fact that Russia ia holding the cards for expansion. We don't. Russia is clever in not wanting to be monitored. We don't.

By the way, now that you mentioned it, Chinese are watching so closely that if it's ok for Russia to grab Ukraine then it's OKAY FOR CHINA TO GRAB Taiwan. dunno
Ana, I respect your position and I just want to know what's best for Ukraine. cheers
The Chinese might take that view but they might also take the view that invading Taiwan will be difficult and costly. War doesn't pay off like it used to and it's good to be reminded of that.
On the contrary Obs, at least in my observation. China isn't motivated for profit. Or economic reasons as its goal. Remember monetary wise China is the major creditor of the World Bank. China for so long has more economic leverage having made all these cheap products flood the global market and its investment us soaring.

China will take Taiwan or any other countries as it always did, Nepal, Mongolia among others.

Don't forget it built its citadel in Spratley Island amidst US warning since that Island supposedly belongs to the Philippines.

Now I'd be more inclined to believe, it would in a heartbeat, subdue Taiwan.
That should be obvious. When Ukraine wants to be in NATO its so that they are free to behave like they don't live next door to a mafia man. But what's in it for NATO? Human rights are very nice an all but I don't see what NATO gains from Ukraine. In the real world you have to compromise ideals because of reality. Ukraine will have to settle for being somewhere between a NATO member and a puppet state like Belarus. Ukraine is in no position to completely ignore Russian foreign policy.
Obs, you mean it's helpless without NATO. So for that being considered, it's best for Ukraine to be a member. Why? Simple. Like you said, Russia is a vulture that can devour Ukraine in one gulp

Bingo Obs. .sad flower
My friend Obs said; war isn't profitable venture for the countries involved. But the ammunition manufacturers. I agree with him.
Although I'm pretty sure, this war trigger the possibility of WW3.
I think we're just born to be fighting against one another. One country against another country. We don't have to but it seems to natural to do. sad flower
Looking at the reasons why Russia invaded Ukraine, it seems to me that it's a simple misunderstanding of the two countries in becoming a NATO member, Ukraine of course and why Russia wouldn't allow it.

Is ot really?
It's all about power and money.
i know that for a fact Marble. Imagine the sales of ammo. The cost of building those war planes and missiles.
Man has always been prepared to spend more hurting an enemy than helping a friend.
Yes indeed. Why is that?wave
Mic my how did I miss this?
