CHINA V UK

China has accused UK of harbouring Hong Kong fugitives and has put a bounty on the heads of these individuals. These people have come to the UK to escape the oppressive regime in HK, where they have voiced opposition to the undemocratic system set up by China.

You might like to keep in mind that England for 130+ years operated a virtual police state and definitely an undemocratic state in Hong Kong right up till the 80's at which point, realising how their government of HK would appear to the world, they started to relax their control leading up to the hand-back.

Why were the Hong Kong citizens unhappy about UK's handover to China? Would they now chose the present system or a democratic UK rule? The display of union jack's in Hong Kong was a feature of their big protests when the young people were beaten and arrested. But I know you have sympathetic feelings towards China due to your connections there.

Shen Yun dance company despite being Chinese are not allowed to perform in China because they are considered to be a cult. Their dance routine tells the story of Chinese history, but not that which the Chinese gov approves. I've spoken to reps of this group and they say how oppressive life is in their country and that Britain should never have given control of Hong Kong to China. The dance group does world tours and the participants live outside China.

Shen yun is operated by, affiliated with, support and is supported by, Falun Gong Dafa. Epoch Times promote them. Shen yun, Falun gong, and Epoch times are all explicitly anti CCP. I have been tricked into attending a Shen yun performance, saw their pro Falun gong anti-CCP propaganda (the dancers carry banners while dancing, declaring 'Falun Gong GOOD, CCP bad') and walked out at interval. I am not going to sit by watching propaganda paraded as ART!

If a group feel oppressed and wish to draw attention to their plight and that of others in their country, then the question is whether when given the opportunity to make their feelings known, should they communicate this to the world.
Same applies to other countries such as Iran and the plight of women's rights there. Given the opportunity, should they tell the world? Or just suffer in silence?

There have been many documentaries and interviews with men and women who were in these camps and who describe the conditions that existed. This combined with photographic evidence and investigations by human rights organisations confirms the existence of the internment camps. The system is not going to be advertised but concealed by the government.
I suppose you deny that the holocaust ever happened.

The thread is about UK sheltering HK refugees and China complaining. If it deviates it's because others have raised issues about believing western media, and of course why would HK citizens wish to seek refuge in UK. Chinese suppression of course. There's no hiding from it and examples given as to why.
If it's uncomfortable for you, you don't have to respond. I know the truth hurts for some communist sympathisers.

Glad you admit you talk crap. You can't blame a whole race of people because of the actions of a few. I prefer to believe western media and humanitarian organisations and up to date facts than ancient history. That has no relevance to the people suffering today. But I suppose if you are not involved, it doesn't really matter.
