Howdy People. I need Mr Spock's Help on this one.
I just came across this Problem this morning.Its called a "Russell's Paradox."
Consider a group of barbers who shave only those men who do not shave themselves. Suppose there is a barber in this collection who does not shave himself; then by the definition of the collection, he must shave himself. But no barber in the collection can shave himself. (If so, he would be a man who does shave men who shave themselves.)

Ok, so he doesn't shave. The definition says he shaves only men who don't shave themselves - fine. But it does not say he HAS to shave ALL men who don't shave themselves. Hence, it is quite OK for him not to shave himself. No paradox.

well, you are not missing anything. what I can understand from such paradox is that most people know that mathematics is an EXACT science. however according to russel, it's NOT ALWAYS because there is inconsistency even in mathematics.

paradox has me stumped
all i can say is after many years of shaving my male patients ,i am truly an EXPERT shaving " Barber" lol !!
If i had a penny for every male patient i have shaved over the years , i'd be a very rich lady ! :-)
think hes fed up of shaving guys
i'd have 3 men shaved by the time he has that 1 done !!
plus , i don't sing when i am shaving - one has to concentrate on what one is doing - so as not to cause wee nicks in the skin !
If we try to say that barber does shave himself, then we get into a contradiction, because we said that that every one of “group of barbers who shave only those men who do not shave themselves” so it cannot hold itself.
Since neither point is logically defensible, there's our paradox.
It does not say he's obliged to shave himself, let the other barbers in the group do it.
