immigration

I will probably be flagged on this but a bold and sincere ideas guys...I know you'll have fun, let us look at the world on this?

JOHN LENNON, IMAGINE, an all too familiar for correctness on this world's take on injustice...do you think he would have radically changed his words or lyrics by now? To suit what is truly happening in the world relative to handling of immigration laws?

Particularly in the US?

FACTS:1. ABOUT 12 million illegal aliens (Newsweek, Oct. 2012) not so sure on the date, although I have a copy, at home)

2. What these people's condition on how they come here, and more so what they experience. (stories, from South of the border, Canada, even how Asians and all the areas of origins)

QUESTION:1. WOULD YOU CONSIDER YOURSELF A CANDIDATE? IF SO AS TO HOW MUCH EXTENT WOULD YOU IMPOSE ON YOURSELF, MONETARILY AND PHYSICALLY, CONSIDERING THE ACUTENESS OF THE NATURE OF THIS ACT?

QUESTION: 2. SHOULD WE ABOLISH BORDERS AND STICK WITH JOHN LENNON"S MESSAGE?

Thank you guys, please answer at your own risk, and I hope we are not under the red radar of this section as I am sure, I don't want us to jeopardize our positions, albeit freedom of expression is one inherent part of our constitution.(USA). This is one of the biggest concern in my country right now, next to Obamacare...and war in Afghanistan...(longest running war in history, since 1977)

WHAT CAN WE DO TO IMPROVE THE SITUATION? THIS IS THE FINAL QUESTION.

Thanks,

PS If I am off line and course, please advise me, I will stand corrected..

Immigration laws has its pros and cons. It would be irresponsible of a government to allow its borders to be overrun if the infra structure cannot support it. Government has an obligation to the taxpayers who paid to get that infrastructure in place. No country, not even the USA, can allow unlimited influx.
wine hug
Problem is if there are not borders the people from poor countries will flood the more prosperous countries...as they are doing already. If they contribute towards the economy of that country all will be well but we know they don't always do that. If you have no unemployment in your country then it is fine but allowing more jobless bums into your country while your own people struggle to get jobs is kind of stupid. dunno
well noted Cat, thanks so much for the enlightening political impact. But why do people do? You think? Would you for one moment understand their position, they live in a very destitute place and they see, the generated impact on people they know..can you think from their side?

Thanks. I will not give you my thoughts yet...bouquet
Just a few more somethings to add.

I don't think you will be happy if your son was without a job and his children went hungry while an immigrant was employed in his job because he's willing to work for less pay.

A governments first obligation is to its own citizens. If it can accommodate some 'refugees' without putting the real citizens at a disadvantage, then help by all means. But you cannot allow 'foreigners' to take employment while your own citizens are unemployed.

John Lennon was an idealist and a dreamer; and somewhat of a anarchist. A brilliant songwriter and we should see him as that. Not a policy maker. He could not run a country with fixed borders, let alone one without borders.

Just my humble opinion.
You're straight forward for the benefit of a country counts very strongly Cat...yet yes, the US is staggeringly high on the 14 percent unemployment yet, outsourcing I believe, is more of the culprit than anything else. But this seems, no one to be able to set a straight line on how it should be handled, let alone prevented...
If Governments abolish borders then how would they frighten people with the idea that those different outsiders want to terrorise the
good people. Now the only real solution is more tax and more restrictions on trade and travel.

Vote Conpublican. thumbs up
Democunism is the only way forward.
we can all live on our own and enjoy our free time ....banana banana
Non, I do like that reasoning...how true..hmmmnn but that is where the big dough on the coffer fills...or where it comes from...maybe?doh roll eyes
The fear factor...any ideas how to handle these 12 million or so we have then?

The problem is that while the imposition of penalty on employers hiring such, they do have a job, or how else would they survive. Wonder, would there be any homeless you think who came illegally?frustrated frustrated cool cool wink
"They took our Jobs"
is another war cry of the paranoid relics of the cold war.
One world government is a very real, possible future.
Now that Idea is quite scary but get used to it its on the way.
And guess what Individual constitutions are already nothing more than historical memorabilia to its architects. It has nothing to do with peace or harmony either it is about consolidation of control and the gathering of assets. I could be wrong maybe our Leaders are Saints with Global harmony at the top of the agenda.
And Cat, yes I agree with you but all the idealism on this world, coupled with practical and no nonsense application became the backbone of such a policy. I am not saying that ultimately, mankind will not get to the point where we can really stabilize the influx of illegal activity...I guess I am more concerned on how to handle it..now that it is here and for prevention..
Viggo I like that..how?
Non, you are now seeping the real effect...let me try to recap and elaborate a little bit on that..
by saying " no " and if you want to crawl to me , I will let you , but by saying no , we get to have our time to be free banana
I fully understand, the point that Cat is Making and did not see it till after I had posted my Comment.

I do not by any means intend to say Cat is a cold war relic.
You have my respect sir. handshake
Non I'll come back. Am driving. Here? Such a profit being caught DAT
Then again, you want legal? IT IS A PLAIN CRIME TO VIOLATE ONE'S LAWS..PERIOD..NOW ARE THEY SITTING IN JAIL? IF SO, WHY NOT? cAT? PLEASE ELABORATE..
Non it may sound impossible as it is. But picture this. IN ONE BLAST MOMENT, WE ALL FORGET WE HAVE BORDERS. PEOPLE CAN GO AND RESIDE IN ANYWHERE THEY WANT. ALL LEADERS WILL REALLY BE SELFLESS AND RUN FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL..THEN NO ONE WILL LIKE TO STAY ONLY IN ONE PLACE BECAUSE WE DO ENJOY ALL THE SAME BENEFITS AND OR TRAGEDIES, AND THERE IS ONE UNITED LAW...BUT I BELIEVE, MEN BY NATURE IS COMPETITIVE, SO ALL THE LEADERS WOULD NATURALLY BE THREATENED BY THEIR OWN AGGRESSIVE STANCE AGAINST THEIR DOMINION. MAYBE I AM REALLY WRONG..AND OR CONFUSED..AND OR NO SOLUTION IS PERMISSIBLE WICH WHICH WILL SHOW A TOTAL UNITY AND PEACE..MAYBE
Maybe,
But what event do you think is going to inspire these 2% with all the Power into a situation where the feel it in their benefit to share what they have conned the majority out of. dunno
Raceless, creedless, borderless, existence. One law, one world, one monetary system, ine united effort of men. In all capital letters.

Hmmnn sounds more utopian, don't you think? Dreaming. Non. Dreaming. Upon which my vurden is no more.
Should have been burden. No passport, no crime, no selfishness, no greed. Just plain simple to goodness decency of existence. Maybe
The thing is some can not dream, Therefore they impose their nightmares dunno
Society dictates what happens.
What our who is society
Society is us. You, me and everyone else.
Society should be the majority but it isn't.
Society is the minority.
Until the majority stop the minority from dictating we are headed for more bleak outcomes in everything.
Aliens or asylum seekers as we call them here deserve to be treated as equals.
They are trying to flee a country where the minority rule.
The USA, Britian, Australia and other truly democratic countries should not turn a blind eye.
Maybe instead of turning these people away and trading them as second class citizens of this world maybe not just governments but big business as well should be doing more to help.
Infrastructure can be built to accommodate these people. In fact they could help build the extra infrastructure.
Tis very hard to communicate in writing what I am trying to say . But I hope you can understand what it is I am trying to portray.
Simmo,
Very well put ,That is the points I was making.
You put it very well my friend cheers
My home country is a 3rd world, yet there is a number of illegal aliens too. Right now, I'm in Japan and that is a problem too. I just remember the Corderos who used their daughter who was then in junior high school to gain sympthy and humane consideration from the immigration officials notwithstanding the power of media. I simply abhor their idea. There are lots of truly Japanese halfs who were abandoned by their Japanese fathers and who haven't received welfare similar to what they've been receiving. Aside from the very shameful plea that they be allowed to stay in Japan since they've been here for too long to the point that they've already forgotten their mother tonque. Very shameful indeed! Me, I've been here in Japan longer than them and I can't say I've already forgotten how to speak Filipino. There are some who have been here with permanent residency and receiving welfare but their papers are questionable. What I mean by questionable is, some are on fake marriages or fake Jdescendants web of lies. I don't have any personal enmity against them. Them being just like me trying to rise up from poverty in our home countries. But in the long run, they do contribute a great deal in the sliding down of the job market and good services from companies. With Mr. Lennon's song, for me it's very idealistic and it's only a dream. afterall countries are ruled by people and it's but peoples' nature to outsmart one another. but don't get me wrong, I love the song very much.

tatami,

By people, do you mean "Yourself" or everyone else.
What I mean by that is are you projecting somewhat.

Because I can tell you I don't wish to out smartanyone.
That's not to say I will let them make me look stupid. handshake
NON
it seems we share similar philosophies and a number of things. handshake
Im as a concerned individual tfy to create an achievable and acceptable mode upon which to establish such measure that would not strangulate even more the case against these immigrants nor will damage even more such a law in existence.

Or is ig truly like a cancer that remains potent in itz claim to victory at the expense of the host for which it verily depends for its life? frustrated frustrated dunno confused

Good points.
It had often be said of Australia though
That we do not have a culture of our own and never have.
This is due to our ancestors arriving here and forcibly taking the land from the aborigines.
Whilst I am a true 5th generation aussie I can't see why we can't embrace multiculturalism.
Instead of being illegal immigrants allow them here to build the extra infrastructure we need.
We have such a vast and open land.
Doubling our population will make us a more important player in world affairs.
I do not suggest segregation though.
Australia has laws that should be followed by all that live here.
Making allowances for those who choose to come here should be restricted to a certain degree.
At the end of the day
We are all citizens of this planet and as such WE all share a responsibility to make and allow it to prosper and not to be dictated to by the minorities.

I like where your going with your train of tought.
Im all for for religious diversification, but when it starts to become a segregationist mine field. Then its time to pull in the reigns. I have no time for bigotry from any culture and its time the human race treated each other as humans and not reflections of deity's they worship. dunno

I agree Non, religion should not play any part in politics.

Right now, it is that minefield. Religion is ... I thought ... meant to give us tolerance and acceptance of others. It seems that often it simply gives people a reason to disagree with others.
I believe the reason Australia looses a lot of business to overseas contenders, Simmo is that we outprice ourselves out of the market. Firstly based on our distance from the rest of the world, we have higher costs for freight. Although, the carbon tax made mining companies stop looking at us as seriously as it did. The wages that Australians demand also attributes to this. However, that is not something that Australia is alone in. Stand in most countries in the world and turn their tourist gifts over to find the words "Made in China" stamped on them.

I wonder whether materialism and greed are the real drivers of nations, and people these days. Whatever happened to simple living. Someone being at home to cook meals, keep the house clean and look after the family. When did it become not as enticing for people to look for family values?

Politics is rather like the minefield that Non described. The further you look into things, the more disease you find.

I see the world unite for sporting events. We see the world unite for charity too. Sometimes humanity gets it right, and sometimes... it fails.
What you are advocating is a new world order, Rose. Whilst it's not completely incomprehensible... it means a change in history. While we adopt laws in countries that are united from one to another...the walls must break down, communities must become similar... so that we can integrate from one country to another seamlessly. It's all very Science fiction really.

We saw it work on the Star Trek Enterprise, but then... humanity found other people in the galaxy to unite against, because they didn't believe in the way they did things.

It's a very interesting concept you invite, but... I wonder what it's going to take to implement? Another World War for us to realise that we are our own worst enemy?
Not forgetting Tatami, thank you for your true account of your story. My late brother was a civil engineer and was lucky to have worked in Japan and did good economically but per hAPPLY WITHis experience, we as Filipinos were not treated with respect and or below accepted dignified treatment. That is beside the point. But yes we do go out of lengths to have a better life.

NOTE IT IS GIVEN, WE ARE HUMAN BEING, IT IS SO NATURAL TO SEEK FOR A BETTER LIFE. ALWAYS. NOW I DON'T SEE THAT AS GREED BASED AMBITION, JUST PLAIN AND SIMPLE. WHERE LIFE IS SO BESET WITH INJUSTICE AND INEQUALITY AND THE ONLY WAY TO EXPERIENCE A TRULY MEANINGFUL LIFE IS TO GO ELSE WHERE AND SEEK A GREENER PASTURE. YES WE SHOULD ALWAYS OBSERVE AND GO WITH THE LEGAL WAY, BUT MOST OF THESE APPLICANTS, TAKE ABOUT A LIFETIME IF THEY ARE EVEN CONSIDERED...SO THE RESORT FOR FAST AND EASY WAY IS GO THE ILLEGAL WAY..WE ALL KNOW THAT..

From Non to Abigail.

Non I agree with you. Plain and simple..The segregation of State and Religion is a way of the past. And it should be. We have witnessed in so many times and ways how detrimental is the life and health of the people based on these powers and its rather suffocating practice in the old days. I don't personally believe that it will ever happen. The marriage of these two giant institution has been dismantled and divorced during the civil war..of which makes my country the USA, a really called free country because of the birth of the Constitution which embodies and apply and politically protected all the freedoms we so value and revere. Forget about respect. Personally I believe it is in these acts of great men that made this ever possible or we would have still been living on the more debilitating and perhaps decapitating claw of bigotry. Thanks Non..no way, we are going to regress.

thanks..
Immigration / invasion has been going on since time began . I think it's about getting your head around the situation in a realistic manner.
The new wave of immigrants , whether they be illegal or not are doing so for exactly the same reasons our forefathers did before us.
The Native American Indians , did not invite the Europeans to immigrate to their country five hundred years ago . The country was taken by force , the native owners of the land were humiliated , degraded and robbed . With time the native inhabitants , weakened in numbers by the invaders illnesses and forced laws , had no alternative but to submit to the invasion. The European with his god given right to conquer other lands promoted immigration to their new land . Our forefathers did not see themselves as invading or immigrating illegally , but then did they ask any Native American Indian what they thought about that? But history tells us it was though of by them as an illegal act . Many wars of aggression by the natives were fought against the settlers.
South America was the same , Australia , New Zealand , Many islands in the Pacific ,all the New world .
With time the land became ours , the land became the property of the invader now we feel its our turn and our right to decide who comes and goes . But did our forefathers offer the same courtesy ?
America has millions of illegals causing all kinds of social and economic problems for the government and existing population . What comes around goes around , why are we all so surprised it is happening .
We look at the in flux of Muslim immigrants , who some fear are enforcing a new kind of right of their own in their new habitat , and people are walking around wondering where did it all go wrong .
They are marginalised because of their beliefs and then some wonder why they are trying to enforce their ways . Do you go up to the Muslim , shake his hand and tell him welcome to my country ?
History will tell you where it went wrong , and history will tell us where it is going.
You don't want illegals invading your country but all countries have illegals invading them .
If you were not in the right social status , coming from a poorer country it would not diminish your desire to better your life if you could.
It's very easy to sit back in a cushy environment and moan about illegals coming to your beloved country , until you walk a mile in their shoes.
If the colonials can think about how they got to where they live now , then try to see it a little differently it might help .
Helping newcomers integrate as quickly as possible is the key , becoming useful members of society and contributing is the key , education for their young ones is the key .
Remember in Australia 40 years ago when the Vietnamese boat people came , what the outcry was then . Look at them now , some of the most educated and contributing members of the Australian community.
Were they legal when they came , I don't think so . But a compassionate government gave them a home .
I don't know what the answer is , I have my own private prejudices against certain immigrants here who are helping Italy lose a lot of its integrity And dignity , But the planet was made for us to share lets try to do that .
@Sundayrose, pls allow me to reply to Mr. Non. At times, I don't want to elaborate but as I don't want to be misconstrued even in cyberlife, I'll tell you a part of my activities. Since late Nov, I'm on the night shift working 7pm to 7am. But today being Saturday, no night shift so I worked till 8am. When I posted the comment, it was done between laundry chore and then went out to buy veggies since my son would be coming over tomorrow. Right now, it's 16:28 and no sleep yet but I've finished my early dinner and had just taken a shower ready for bed. I'm one of the people but I'm not out to outsmart anybody either. I'm really referring to China which I think wants to outsmart almost anybody. Pardon to the rest of the Chinese people. I love you. I'm a half Chinese FYI. Pardon because I'm just fresh from reading the bickerings of that country when PM Abe visited the famous shrine in Tokyo. And lastly, Mr. Non is a non smoker. Me, I'm non smart. Had I been, I won't be toiling this hard till now. No innuendos pls. I love you, muah!heart wings
@Sunday, so sorry I didn't read all the comments. By "we", you mean you're a Pinay too. Great!! Have you been here long? Hope you won't mind my long post awhile back. Very informative and intelligent conversation. I'm learning. Thanks!!bouquet

Illegal aliens are the backbone of the U.S., in my opinion. I cannot imagine the government ridding these individuals anytime soon. U.S. like Canada needs people to continue to produce, we simply do not have enough people to work due to the aging population that is why illegal aliens have worked without much bother from the government for such a long time.
What concerns me is the amount of middle classed Americans without healthcare!?? It seems strange to me that people (generalizing)in the U.S. are opposed to Obamacare...too socialist...?? It's odd that the U.S. is considered a top country but has a poor reportcard in healthcare for its own people. The gap between rich and poor and the disappearance of middle class...another issue but important to look at.
It is also strange that government is also taking a hard line on these illegal immigrants who now have American children and grandchildren...where would they go? Hard times are here and will eventually go...My question is are we allowing illegal immigrants to be the scapegoat for corporate American companies who basically financially ruined the U.S.?
