FEAR AND ITS EFFECT IN OUR LIVES
What are we afraid of? And more importantly why? Does fear come in many faces? Are there any known benefits of being afraid? Or is it so crippling that it kills the living light out of our life?I know for a fact that all emotions are given to us for a reason. Relative to all our social, cultural, political and even native place, fear does exacerbate, hinder if not completely harm our life. Progressive as our civilization is, to me, it looks like fear is just as potent and more powerful in dominating our lives.
If it is, in your case, is there anything we can do to thwart and or apply a preventive measure, or even avoid it? Completely?
I am very grateful and thankful to everyone who always participate and share all their ideas, opinions, experiences in my journey to learn and to understand life in the hope that we can all get enlightenment in this rather cruel and unkind world.
To improve and better ourselves and humanity as a whole.
Thank you again and I am humbled and most grateful, like I said, with all our dynamics in this corner.
Sincerely,
SR

Fear is a primitive instinct build into us to warn against danger. It is a normal emotion until it becomes a paranoia.
Thanks

Quite alot of people can't manage to liberate themslves from certain fears. They are then restricted somehow in their quality of life.

I picture a scene of me standing in a room full of strangers and I am about to give a big speech, but can't get a word out, because I am over come with fear
People who fear something can also be very dangerous, because there emotions are not controlled and they become very irrational.
Picture an escaped convict with a gun and with the police hot on his trail and he has the fear of being caught catching up with him, but instead of giving himself up rationally and without any harm to others he grabs a hostage
Fear, Love and hate are very strong human emotions and they drive us to be reactionary
Very clear cut and direct exemplification of this, AS YOU SAID, STRONG HUMAN EMOTIONS.
Thanks again, freedom.

I do agree with all the posts but I am going to try and attempt to look at fear from a different viewpoint....granted I am just a businessman and no professional in this area what so ever. I also share in your position of trying to better humanity, whenever I can. Can you imagine a world where every single living person only had love an compassion toward everyone else? One would think we are intelligent enough to recognize the benefits of such global society?? Who knows, we may be able to travel the stars, cure all diseases, eliminate any sort of hunger....the list would go on and on.
What comes to mind when the subject of fear comes up is FDR's statement "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."
As many have mentioned, fear is an emotion. What I find interesting about fear is different people fear different things. Somebody brought up the fear of public speaking and you being a college professor probably do not have a fear of public speaking. I remember in one of my college classes we had to give a presentation. I had three members in my group. While giving the presentation, one of the members in my group literally just froze up in fear. The rest of our group, though uncomfortable, gave the presentation with no major issues. What makes one fear something that another does not? What makes one fear something that makes them "freeze-up"; whereas, another person may just be a little uncomfortable or not uncomfortable at all?
There is a difference between fear and danger, as already noted above. Fear is a state of mind and derives from thoughts. A lot of thoughts that develop fear can come at any point in our lives. However, there are fears that we develop at a very young age through child scripts.
As mentioned in a previous post, our child scripts are something we learn very early on in life to protect our well-being as a child. These child scripts are so imbedded within our minds that we do not even know they are there. There is a way to test what sort of child scripts you have. I cannot remember the exact scenario in which I tested mine but you need to imagine yourself in a situation and what is your instinctual reaction to that situation helps to identify your child scripts. I would imagine there is something on the internet that could help one identify your scripts.
I know this is going to ruff some feathers but here it is again. Eckhart Tolle's teachings can help you to become more aware of your emotions. Yes, you can follow his teachings to the word 24hours/7days a week of your life, or, you can use his teachings to help you understand your emotions. I have a question. How can you moderate your emotions if you do not understand and know the full spectrum of them?
I think I stayed on point here? :)
Thanks Johnny. I truly appreciate all our dynamics
My respect

I must have missed one if you said so. I am new to all this.
That is very interesting about the Phillipines and the death from snake bites. I have always thought that they only attack if you step on them. Also it is claimed that most are harmless and they are more afraid of you. Also that deaths from snakebite or strangulation is rare. Thanks for that ! Now I know why I still have a phobia bout them. Thats a small little example maybe of a phobia that is infact a Gut feeling. Am 'fraid of them
Fear the greatest thief of dreams. For if one fears to dream one fears to live.
Amd very real A's it can get. Life is no more when dtrams ate killed by fest
I'm thankful for your contribution
