VANITY
One true dark element of human nature is this emotion. The excessive display of pride and glory attached to our achievements. The all mighty trait of: "I am better than you attitude" The exultation of our ego. Our love for ourselves and not mindful of others. When we become vain, we tend to give credit to no one but just the "ME" and all but me attitude. Self worship, self-worth to be shouted to the whole world.
Question. Why do we allow ourselves to be a victim of this vicious and cruel trait? Or is it all in the mind? Or is there a good result to be shared and experienced by being vain?
Thank you all for your contributions and comments.

hi honey......
People nowadays have become very deceptive in their day to day dealings with each other.
Some believe vanity is important, so they struggle to be better than others so they can have the money, the glory, and the luxuries.
Anything in extreme is no good, A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more
to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what others...
the darker complexes that have become parts of human nature, when
vanity was the key flaw, man has made mistake and lost
the paradise, "Nothing can be made of nothing" and
nothing is also everything......man is blind and foolish,
madness gives wisdom and in blindness see the truth.
this blog is great......
I went to read all the contents of my dear Enigma's comments and I do share this theory. THE NEED TO BELONG AND TO BE RECOGNIZED within the very society that sometimes overshadow all our principles which shape the truth that we want to believe in.
The saying that :" KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES"
This is as transparent as I can see in the western civilized world for the preservation of dignity and somehow pride..
Thanks enigma
I think we all suffer from vanity to a certain extent...taking good care of yourself is one thing and having a healthy self esteem is important for self preservation but some take it to another level...but underneath it all...does insecurity lurk?...
How is things with you?...I just finished night shift and a sleep...now enjoying my coffee!!
I still think the root of the problem with people is their insecurity...perhaps that is where it starts then blooms to a new level of self absorbtion (vanity and conceit)...so buried this feeling by their quest for self gratification and need to be respected (loved)...it is hard to see their true self...like a hoarder...surrounding themselves with things...brings comfort and security...some say that their is a certain trait (personality disorder or mental illness)that explains some people's need to aquire more wealth at any cost...I believe that this may also be the case for those who are obsessed with themselves...self absorbed or who lack empathy for others...the behaviour is a by product of an illness...just a thought...
Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.
What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?
One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever.
The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose.
The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits.
All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again.
All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.
I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem.
And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.
I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.
That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.
I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge.
And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit.
For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
Understanding our focus and drive in life. What we do aspire for whether for simplicity or for aggrandizement define our direction in either be out of sync to the call of vanity and or become a victim. The question I posed for..
I know it is not easy to be an exception on this trend specially if we do have the capability and why not. This is what motivates us to work hard for..Right?
I am all for working hard...and that being said...I indulge myself with gifts and other pleasurable things...pedicure and manicure...clothing...it makes me feel good!...but in the end the mortgage has to be paid and other bills as well...I am not keeping up with the Joneses...do not care to!!...but sometimes I think we buy into this lifestyle out of common expectations of our society...the attitude comes with it...
At work many do not get the recognition they deserve...only the negative is highlighted!!...perhaps if we don't parade our talents...no one will see how wonderful we are?...
For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.
How are you there Conrad..long time no see and welcome back..
I do agree with you on this last part of your contribution..The more we know the more grief we carry for such a knowledge we bear.
The responsibility of knowing how cruel and how unkind this world is..
Thanks for your visit Conrad..
