Narcissistic personality disorder

I have an acquaintance who was recently diagnosed with this disorder. I feel sorry for him and after some research noticed that it is actually a common disorder among everyday friends and some family. The net is the ideal place too for these types to hide and exercise their disorder.

A person with a narcissistic personality disorder swings between seeing themselves as special and fearing they are worthless. They may act as if they have an inflated sense of their own importance and show an intense need for other people to look up to them.

Other symptoms include:
•exaggerating their own achievements and abilities
•thinking they are entitled to be treated better than other people
•exploiting other people for their own personal gain
•lacking empathy for other people's weaknesses
•looking down on people they feel are ‘beneath’ them, while feeling deeply envious of people they see as being ‘above’ them.

You are dead right, these people even say they have cancer just for attention, I can pick them out a mile away. thumbs up
Narcissists are charming and attentive and the perfect partner as long as they are the centre of your world.

Once they feel that they are not, then you see the real person, the cold, calculated self-centered being.

They will then dump you (lucky escape) and move on to their next victim.

I have seen alot of personality disorders in the hospital...some are very hard to treat...others emotionally exhaust you...
Often times they don't have many friends because of this...many people may have some narcissistic traits but are not diagnosed with this behaviour because it is not severe enough...we all have traits in us that may not be flattering...
I strongly believe that we all have narcisstic traits and malignant narcissiism is a differnt kettle of fish entirely.
They aggrandize themselves and will do anything to benefit themselves. RIght?
Vote Luke? Where? confused
Oh wait, just copped on, elections going on here in Ireland too.
Sadly no and I'm really pee'd off about it. My ID book was stolen during one of my last visits to Joburg and the Embassy here says...2 years for a new one. Ridiculous! Why can't we vote with a passport? frustrated
There was a fantastic turnout in Dublin and London! applause
Agreed, its a devastating disorder.moping

Unl,,, and here they are boasting that temporary id's will be issued on the spot. Wonder if its a ploy to minimize the external votes.wine
It wouldn't surprise me, Luke. I hear there was exactly 1 polling station in Australia. It's a pretty big country for 1, don't you think? doh
think of self always causes problems
self cherishing mind i think is root cause of all our personal problems.

Path to more happiness is as much as possible mind directed towards benefiting other
