Have I lost the plot ?

I've got into the habit of watching the BBC News when I eat dinner, recently whenever I have dinner and the time varies on whether I'm hungry, it's Sportsday & not news, as this mainly consists of football (soccer) I'm not the slightest bit interested, football used to be Saturdays but now it's every day of the week

On the actual news this week a piece about football

Sky TV & BT have paid £5.136 billion for rights to show football games live, Sky paid the bulk at £4.176 billion, that's for 126 matches a season for 3 years

Now on Facebook today I saw this on my wall -

Has the world gone mad, where a UK footballer can be paid half a million pounds a week to kick a ball around but the UK prime-minister is on £142,500 A YEAR, or am I the one

LJ, personally I'm not bothered about how much the top people get, if I had my way I'd pay them ten times what they get now, that way we might end up with the right person for the job, if a football club can pay half a million a week I'm sure leading countries could come up with that, with the right people in control money wouldn't be such an issue in the first place imo

Zmountainman, did you ever heard or read in your life that talents pays? Well guess what?
All billionaires in the planet are rich because they possessed a rare talent at one time that the public needed!

I don't care whether people earns fabulous sums of money, i care whether everybody got a slide of the cake.!

You only know of the prime minister's salary, did you know that the prime minister of britain earns a certain percentage of any contract of sales that they initiate during their time in office?
These are guys who will earn life salary plus pension.

Never mind about the media.I am happy if you got something doing and earning a salary.

Didier, the last time I was on a salary was 1978

but yes I know all countries leaders do ok from it, but imo it would be better to pay them properly in plain sight, that way we'd all get what we need, after all it's much harder to bribe a wealthy man than a poor one

Footballers need to be paid exorbitantly high coz the expensive taste of their WAGs have to be satisfied and maintained

Dream, yes but if the players were paid a wage commensurate with being able to kick a ball the whole WAG issue would disappear overnight imo, OK some compensation may have to paid to firms like Gucci which would inevitably also disappear but if compensation was based on the real value of handbags that would only amount to a couple of hundred quid

Dream, that's a fair point, it's not as though England are any good, they haven't won the world cup since 1966 as far as I know, back then they would have been earning about £100 a week, so maybe if they put the wages back to that level they might win again
