Wait until he tells you first. If you have reason to believe him and if you feel the same about him, you should tell him.
If a guy says he loves you, he might be inclined to declare this feeling rather lightly: if he feels attracted and is ready and inclined to start a relationship. Either he may be desperately in love with you and yet hopelessly waiting for the 'right circumstances' as to the how and when to declare his feelings.
In the former case, responding favourably to his 'L' word is an emotional trap, leading to a relation with little long term perspective.
In the latter your taking the lead may be a relief for your date and failing to do so might even jeopardize a relationship with life-time perspective.
