To our fallen soldiers and living as well

Happy memorial day

Author: lindsyjones

roses laid out for your memory
not only for the dead but for the living as well
you gave your courage and strength for me
so that I can write this for the world to see

you were not asked but ordered
I am sure that is how it goes
to pick up your helmet, gun and sword
and bled to die defending your post

while I wasn't there to witness
the brutalities and atrocities you went through
I imagine with a living soul
it must have been hellish for you

some of you came back home lucky
with no scar and or physical pain
but the trauma of terror etched in your memory
will haunt you until the end

today as fitting as it should
the world giving you this day of tribute
but I know deep in my heart
you deserve even more than that

I hope therefore that you feel good
knowing you have done a heroic job
defending our country and what we believe in
for the future of our country and children

Salute to all those in one way or another contributed to securing our peace. Dead and also for those living.

My two uncles were killed in the 2nd WW serving for the US Army and my mom was a veteran. She lived until 85 just to tell and remind everyone about the horrors of wars. She witnessed how so many soldiers that were captured by the Japanese got tortured by tying to a tree way up high for everyone to see, cut their skin and pulled their nails and poured acid and vinegar and witnessed how they screamed and writhed in pain. The purpose was to let all the Filipino soldiers defect against the US but held on stronger. My grandmother lived a hellish life witnessing the torture of my two uncles.sad flower
