Petri dish

Petri dishes may be used to observe the behavior of microcosms under a microscope.

Microcosms are defined as encapsulating in miniature the characteristics of something much larger.

Humankind is regarded as the representation in miniature of the universe.

CS is the representation of humankind.

We have, I think, got all types here (apart from the those who are happy with life exactly the way it is) the dashers the doubters the shouters the angry the thoughtful the lonely the vicious and the bored.

Comment, don't comment dunno I left it open. Not expecting any.

Microorganisms were previously known as animalcules. pointing comment.

Mimi, a very quick and cute little microcosm who just nipped in ahead of another microcosm and heated him up nicely applause
yay yay yay

Mick tongue tongue tongue
Apparently we are all sheep...so bahhh to you Biff...rolling on the floor laughing
I think there is a higher percentage of socially awkward or just plain crazies here than in real life writing
flirty = angel scold
flirty = devil

very mad

Cal, some of us may be goats, free spirits, with total contempt for those who call us sheep? laugh

And goats have horns, and can deliver a nice swift butt. I'd rather be a goat grin
Molly, hmm, not so sure about that. In real life we stick to our friends and the people we like, and they are bang-on normal, given our personal definition of normal of course. uh oh

We're only really exposed to the whole petri dish when we're here. When I don't understand the world or the news, I come here and read opinions and comments and then I do.
Mick laugh

Biff, we also meet people at work and in social settings, quite apart from our friends and relatives

And I would say that the percentage of crazy is higher here
Map - the world, or CS? That's my point. One and the same.

Here, we get to see inside minds a bit more, eek, but just look at those sweet and smiling photographs. You see those faces in the street, you'd think how nice they looked.

Some look lovely. Some say they are lovely, in their profiles. And some are lovely. yay

You could think someone is a bit of an erk but they have lots of CS friends. You know what they're thinking? They're thinking we're the erks.

dunno confused

Takes all types. And all types are here. professor
Wot's an erk?

I feel the need to call somebody one, but want to know exactly what I am calling them first laugh
I have no problem with people who have religious beliefs

I do have a problem with people who put religious beliefs before people
Absolutely. And you'd avoid them because you have no common ground. They don't care. You're an erk, to them.

But here on CS, we all bump up against each other.

I actually treasure CS for that. Oh, some individuals, I don't treasure so much laugh but this is the real world as it really is. A complete eye-opener, and we might quite possibly be the most enlightened people on this sorry old planet!

wow
Biff, that last sentence, if true, is a little scary laugh
I don't mean because we like each other, because most of the time we don't laugh

But we are know there are people out there in the world who are completely unlike us, and we talk to each other, squabble, read each other's opinions (with our eyebrows bouncing off the ceiling) and build up huge rages.

We could be ambassadors for our overlapping worlds.

I'd give the human race a week at best if we were, though. laugh
I do go to talks by people I mightn't naturally agree with; and always watch debates, etc., on current affairs programmes, just to get a balanced view.

But when I see people spewing out the same old rhetoric; misinformation; tabloid press-type headlines, then I just roll my eyes to heaven and move on to the next.
Petri dish now there is a thought. could it determine if i am an eeklaugh laugh YES I AM and proud to be it too.

some people are so normal they are boring. At least on cs we do get a variety of eeks.rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing
Molly, agreed. I didn't say I like seeing the same old arguments rehashed, or like seeing people stubbornly refusing to change their views by a hairsbreadth, no matter what the evidence!

The world is a bit turbulent. Not people acting against their own natures - people being completely true to their natures.

sad flower
Red, CS is never boring laugh and yes, we all vigorously defend our right to be exactly the same perfect people we are, and find other interesting people to share that with yay
cheering cheering cheering true true but some are just abnormal you know laugh laugh I just read them but that be that.wow
Hi Kal! wave

You're currently on a much more interesting path, blurring the CS lines to prove people who might otherwise never have met can really get on yay
Red, bet you sometimes find you say things to people in your normal life and realize how much broader your view of life is than theirs? If you do - that's CS.

applause
Certain people will simply never, EVER, comment on certain blogs. It's an Unwritten Law. However the other useful thing about CS is that the subject will suddenly pop up in a different faction's blog and you get to see answers from a different perspective.

Sometimes it will be repeated 3 and 4 times. More. Depends how much the subjects fractures the factions.

popcorn
Well...I don't know which one I am?

Certainly not a sheep!

I suppose I'm one of those happy people...my life could be a bit better...but I appreciate what I have and I'm grateful.
Oh Daniela I would have classified you as thoughtful - if I was classifying, which I wasn't, because 7 billion people, hard to boil that down into the hundreds of CS and not miss out one or two. They might resent being missed out, and be hurt, and I would be mortified.

Could be interesting someday to do a blog on how we see ourselves and find out how others see us, but then that's what every blog would be if the mods didn't step in and stop the punch-ups laugh
A lot more crazies here than in real life, Biff....or maybe it's just that they can let the crazy out behind the relative anonymity of a keyboard.
Thoughtful, hey? I suppose I am. blushing

A blog about how do we see ourselves and how others see us I remember seeing one day? But still would be interesting.
Hi Un wave

Nope, I think the proportions are about right. Because of course we all know we're as sane as a long cool glass of water, everyone else, though - cor. From nearly normal to complete zoomer.

Except that if we each had to fill in a list of where we thought everyone else was at - between nearly normal and complete zoomer - I would be amazed if more than 3 or 4 lists matched laugh
Daniela, yes, I think I saw something on those lines, but because of the mods it stayed ever so polite and anyway at least half the bloggers wouldn't have responded because you know the rules - you only comment on Certain Blogs. It is The Law.

If the mods did a blog allowing comments, I wonder how many they would get? confused
Nee, Biff...there are plenty of sane people here if you scratch the surface but bliksem there are some loons! laugh
Oh aye but my point, they're all convinced they are the centre of the sane world.

Like you do. And me. Well, I do accept my centre is a little wobbly at times ... uh oh and yup we all do that too, think 'was what I just said a little too much? Nah'
Not at all...but Biff...I don't have the presumption that I'm the centre of a sane world....truly. It's interesting to observe, though laugh
Ohh...rolling on the floor laughing ....i know everytime...who is gonna comment on which blog....and i'm gonna put my hand up and say....i am on the side of sanity... interesting, amusing blogs and not inane rubbish....

Now...whats on the tele.....rolling on the floor laughing
Oh help in that case I'm probably insane. moping

Not only insane but have blared it out on a blog moping

Wonder if they've fixed that issue where we couldn't delete comments once the blog reached a certain length? moping

Oh MAN.

Bliksem.

blues
Cal, you think I'm relatively normal?

applause joy cartwheel elephant

wine

laugh
Err....do not equate. My bad
Yay, I'm sane! hug Un says so applause and she OBVIOUSLY is. QED.

Okay, not going to go on about it in case I have to prove it laugh
Oh PHEW because I honestly don't think I could. In a jury made up by CS members? rolling on the floor laughing

hug
