Microphone no longer working after skype update
Blast it skype insisted on doing another of its interminable updates recently and I've just found that I am no longer audible. Checked both my skype and pc settings and can't fix it.Can anyone give helpful advice?
I skype on my desktop computer and up to now, never a problem. The webcam is a plug-in and doesn't do audio, just video
(This luckily doesn't affect teaching, which I do on another computer, but damnit I enjoy my occasional skype calls)

Anyway, not everybody will read the heading like me
I seem to have problems too since their updates.
It's supposed to make things better...and not worse!
From my computer the green button where you used to call from has now disappeared.???
Now...I have a can and a handset icon..both in white.
I can call from both but I can also call from the cam icon like I did before and...if I don't want the cam...then I turn it off at the bottom of the screen.
I don't know if that helps ?
Please note that I had to reset my Skype account for some reason and many of my old contacts seem to have disappeared?
thanks Alan, unfortunately I don't have W10 on the pc and won't upgrade - I have it on the laptop and hate it. After seeing your link I found an equivalent for W7 but both W7 and Skype have evolved so much, since the link was created in 2013, that all the headings quoted have disappeared.
So I don't Skype anymore, all those generals and admirals wanting to be my friend will be disappointed but I suspect they find a lot of disappointment in their lives already
I could of course be blaming skype when it is a Microsoft upgrade, they keep saying they are no longer supporting W7 and yet ... keep doing updates.

I know it shows up when you log in, but I forget how to check when already logged in

And yes I could load skype on the laptop but oh my, how seductive, to be looking like a call-centre operative (or TEFL teacher) on skype calls
